Christopher brushed his hair out of his face and put down his drink. He picked up the guitar with the ease of someone who knew it very well and gave her one last look that she couldn't read. He started playing Sex and Candy by Marcy Playground. He looked down while he played, then starting singing in a haunting beautiful voice
After a few chords his strumming changed and he moved seamlessly into another song, Hey there, Delilah. Lilah felt her whole body respond as she listened. When he finished Christopher put down the guitar.
Lilah stared at him. "You're really good."
"Thanks."
"No, like you are really good."
"Thanks." He picked up a drink and avoided her eyes a little.
"I..." Lilah stared at him strangely.
He laughed. "You... are fighting the urge to rip off your clothes aren't you? I did warn you."
Lilah didn't laugh. She scrunched up her forehead in confusion and glanced over at a leather jacket on the back of the couch then back at him, "I... am having deja vu...." She looked at the jacket again, then back at Christopher.
He watched her curiously.
"Can I do something?"
Chrisopher smiled softly, "You can do anything."Lilah slowly moved across the couch. He took a deep breath as she climbed onto his lap. She examined him closely. She unbuttoned his collared shirt and pulled it off until he was just wearing a white t-shirt. She sat back and looked at him carefully. He raised an eyebrow. She handed him the leather jacket. Christopher slid it on, with a slight question in his eyes.
Lilah leaned back and looked at him again. Christopher gently ran his hands along the sides of her thighs until they came to rest at her hips. His fingers gripped the fabric of her shirt and he willed himself to breathe normally. Lilah stared at him, deep in thought. She ran a hand through his hair "Did you used to have longer hair?"
Christopher leaned slightly into her caress and smiled in confusion, "Yes."
"And is the scruffy beard look new?"
He nodded in confusion.
"And you play in a band?"
He nodded again. Lilah looked at him for another minute and then she groaned in realisation. She leaned forward into his chest and covered her face with embarrassment. Christopher gently raised his hands to her back, "I don't know what's going on, but I'm fine with anything that brings you into my arms."
Lilah laughed but she gradually leaned back and slid to sit next to him. She left one hand draped across her face in embarrassment and gave him a side glance through her fingers.
"I've met you before."Christopher's eyebrows shot up, "Not a chance."
Lilah shook her head, "Okay I haven't technically met you, exactly, but I've seen you play. You guys are awesome."
Christopher smirked and then said in a smug voice, "Always happy to meet the fans."
Lilah swatted his arm and he gazed at her in amusement, "Where was it?"Lilah thought for a moment, "Rose and Crown.
He nodded, "Sounds right. We're there every Thursday." He slid the jacket off and put it on the back of the couch
She looked at him closely again, "It's so weird that I didn't recognise you. You don't look that different."
Christopher's eyebrows went up a notch, "Recognise me? Why would you recognise me? There are four other guys in the band and I'm not even the lead singer."
