You had spent time sitting with everyone. The first person to take a go was Yuji. He held you tight in his arms. Then Megumi. Then Nobara. Then Choso. Then a blubbering Yuta. Then Megumi again. Then Nanami. Then Sukuna. And then Nanami again.

The only one who refused to touch you was Gojo.

He merely opted to watch, standing in the corner. His mind was ringing. He kept recalling your phone call. The heartbreak in your voice. The utter sound of betrayal.

The last thing he wanted to do was set you off. To make you uncomfortable.

"It's your fault!"

The words rang in his head. It was his fault. He admitted it. He knew it. After all, he had been the one to plant the idea in everyone's head. A way to keep you safe from the outside world.

There was no doubt in his mind you'd come back to his side. That you would eventually forgive him.

But eventually didn't mean today. So for now, he would be patient. He would push down the ache of being so close yet so far away from you.

"That doesn't look great." Gojo watched as you softly brushed your fingers around Nanami's damaged skin. "Is your eye okay?"

The blond smiled at you before brushing back some hair from his forehead. "It's all superficial damage. It'll be better within a week."

Gojo's heart ached as he watched you interact with everyone, the emotional reunion making his own guilt feel even heavier. He took a step forward, but stopped himself. His desire to comfort you was overshadowed by his fear of making things worse. He watched as you tended to Nanami's wounds, your touch gentle and caring.

"I'm glad to see you're okay," Nanami said with a grateful smile, though his eyes were still shadowed by fatigue. "I knew you'd pull through."

Your smile was a small, bright spark in the dim room, but it faded a bit as you glanced over at Gojo. He could see the flicker of hurt in your eyes before you turned back to Nanami.

"Thank you, Nanami. I'm just relieved you're all safe."

Gojo felt a pang of regret. He wanted to reach out, to apologize for everything, but he didn't know if it was his place. After all, he was the one who had pushed you into such a dangerous situation, who had planted the seeds of doubt and fear. He had let his own misguided sense of protection cloud his judgment, and now he was paying the price.

But they weren't misguided. They were necessary precautions.

And for now, he would allow you to continue blaming him.

As you moved on to Choso, Gojo's gaze lingered on you. The tenderness with which you treated everyone was a stark reminder of what he had jeopardized. He thought back to your phone call, your voice breaking with pain and accusation.

"It's your fault!"

The words echoed in his mind, a relentless reminder of his failure.

He had hoped you'd come around eventually, but he never expected it to be so painful to watch. Each moment you spent with others felt like a reminder of his own inadequacies. He wanted to make things right, but he knew that words alone wouldn't be enough.

But it wasn't Gojo alone who was having internal struggles.

You were.
