Six months later

The entire palace of Asgard had been buzzing in celebration. In fact, the entire realm of Asgard had been. For in exactly two days from today was Thor's coronation day. It would be the day from which Thor would be the next King, the next All-Father. And no one was less excited than Thor himself. He had animatedly ranted about the big day as well as his rule as king afterwards for hours, making both Loki and Y/n extremely, terribly bored.

Loki's thoughts on his brother's big day were muddled. It felt wrong to feel jealous. Hadn't his father always told him that they both were meant to be kings, although only one could ascend to the throne? Yet, even then, when he was only a few centuries old, he had known, that it would not be him. It would never be him. Not in this reality, not in another. Because it was Thor who was perfect in everything. It was Thor who was blond and muscly, who was fast and strong. It wasn't him, Loki, who was loved by everyone, whom everyone thought was the best. No, it was Thor.

But another side of him was proud. This other side of him was happy for his brother, glad for him and how he had finally achieved what he had dreamt of since a young child.

And there was this part of him, the wiser part, he believed, that felt that yes, Thor deserved the throne, but now? Thor was vain and arrogant. He was reckless. And as much as Loki loved Thor, he knew that now was not the time for Thor's reign on Asgard. It had been these thoughts of his about the coronation that shadowed over the others, that he focused and dwelled on the most, trying his best not to let his heart burn from jealousness. Although, subconsciously, he was jealous, but he was also proud and mostly, he was hesitant about this whole thing.

Loki was the God of Lies. And he knew that when he told himself that he wasn't envious he was lying. So, he tried focusing on doing something about the coronation that Thor was so clearly not ready for.

Y/n had understood how Loki felt, even though he had not admitted it. According to her it was natural to feel jealous, as long as he did not go destroying the throne, Thor, or Asgard in the process.

She had also shared Loki's concerns about Thor. He tried not to seem as if he was saying this out of envy, because he wasn't. However, Y/n knew, even without him repeating it several times, that he was genuinely concerned for his brother. She understood him that way and he was grateful for it.

Today they had been sitting in his dark green-painted room, just talking about this or that. No matter how many times she tried to distract him from the celebration, and his thoughts on it, he kept trying to steer the conversation back to it. It went sort of like this-

"But, Loki, did you hear-"

"Don't you think something should be done?"

"About the palace security? Yes, I know, that's what I'm saying, there was another break-in and Maw's body was stolen, and there was an attempt to get that Chitauri's too, so-"

"Not about that! Although, yes, that is true, what I'm talking about is the coronation, it's only two days away, Y/n. And haven't we both agreed that Thor isn't ready for-"

"For Odin's sake, Loki, can't you shut up about that coronation? If Odin thinks that Thor should be King, then maybe he sees something that you- we don't. Just give it a rest."

"How can I, when-"

She fixed him with such a glare that he fell silent.

"Okay, fine. I won't talk about it. Happy?"

"Yes."

Although he did not talk about it, she could tell, with his uncharacteristic silence (uncharacteristic around her; he never shut up when they were talking) and not-so-unusual brooding that his thoughts were still lingering over it like a heavy mist over the high mountain tops.

"Loki, you should stop."

"Stop what?" He gave her a quizzical look, even though he knew what she was talking about.

"Plotting. I can see that look in your eyes."

Loki just rolled his eyes in response. No, he would not stop plotting, not when he, as the God of Mischief and Lies and Thor's brother, was supposed to. And he had a marvelous plan ready. All he needed for it was a way to get into Jotunheim and the Frost Giants' trust. By his luck, or mischief, more like, he already knew pathway leading out of the palace. About the Giants' trust, what was he called the God of Trickery for?

A/n- I'm sorry, this is a short one, but there'll be more soon!
