A/n- I'm going on a break from wp for a while, two weeks minimum, so I though that I should be kind and let you have one more chapter. So, behold- my longest chapter till now!! Enjoy <3
Time affects everyone and everything. During the span of nearly five centuries, he had become taller, stronger, more cunning and much more mischievous. She had become taller, prettier, sweeter, kinder and much more compassionate. Both of them had become much closer than ever before.
It was common knowledge that there was to be a ball held in the Asgardian royal castle in about two weeks. All the Asgardians as well as some royalty and special guests from other realms had been invited. Seeing as how the Jotuns had tried hurting the princes and princess, even though they refused of doing anything, they were not invited, and neither were the Svartalfs, who hated Asgard with all their dark hearts. The elves from Alfheim, the Vanir from Vanaheim and even some dwarves from Nidavellir were coming.
Both Loki and Y/n hated feast days and the balls that followed them. But this once, she was excited. After six hundred years, she would see her mother and her uncle again. Loki was also quite eager to meet them with her.
As the days to the feast grew closer, Frigga had pulled the brothers aside one evening. As they were Asgardian royalty, they had to choose someone to take to the ball with them as their partner, and Frigga had informed them about it. Both had already made up their minds about who they were to ask.
A few hours later Thor had asked Sif if she would like to accompany him, and she agreed to. Now it was Loki's turn. His heart pounded as he left for the library; he knew she was always there during the evenings, and of course there was no one else he would want to go with.
She sat in the library, reading Wonder, flipping through the pages slowly. The weather outside was pleasant, but she didn't care; she would rather read than spend time outside. Lost in the pages of her book, she didn't realize she had company until a voice took her back into reality.
"Y/n?" It was Loki.
"Oh, hi," she had smiled, a slight blush on her cheeks.
"You know about the feast, right?"
"Uh, yes," she replied, not sure where this conversation was going.
"Would you like to be my dance partner?"
Her heart skipped a beat.
"Yes, I'd love to."

The week had flown by. It was the afternoon before the ball. Everyone was getting ready for the grand feast in the evening, Y/n and Loki being no exception.
After fretting over what to wear for about half an hour, she finally decided to wear a brand-new, shimmering green gown, Loki's favorite color, with a beautiful golden pendant gifted to her by her mother when she was younger. As always, a small brown bag was slung across her waist, her rune-stone pouch, a gift from Lady Sif, who had used her sacred tree Rowan to carve the stones. Her maid had helped her with the make-up and set her hair in an elegant and stylish manner.
Just another fifteen minutes left and the feast would start.
Soon she was being led to the doorways that opened up into the Grand Hall. Her blue eyes searched through the crowd of Asgardian royals and court members until she finally found him, her heartbeat swelling at the sight of him. He had worn an all-black three-piece suit and looked very dapper.
Loki caught her eyes, staring at her for a moment until he came out of his daze and offered her a sweet yet cunning smile. He had walked over to her and took her hand in his.
