When Jungkook returned to the office, he was immediately met with Taehyung's teasing smirk.

"Jagiya... huh?" Taehyung drawled, his voice laced with amusement. "You were jealous, weren't you?"

Jungkook closed his eyes, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. He took a deep breath before admitting, "Yeah, I was jealous. I can't stand the thought of people eyeing what's mine."

Taehyung's smirk softened into a genuine smile, but his curiosity quickly took over. "So, where were you all week? You didn't show up after the club."

"I went to LA to see a friend," Jungkook replied nonchalantly, though the casual tone didn't quite mask the underlying tension.

Taehyung's brow furrowed slightly. "Why the sudden trip?"

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before dropping the news. "I'm getting married soon."

Taehyung's eyes widened in surprise. "With this friend you went to see?" he asked, a hint of sadness creeping into his voice.

Jungkook looked at him, his gaze unreadable. "Not my friend. I'm marrying, but his soon-to-be brother-in-law."

"Oh," Taehyung muttered, suddenly at a loss for words. The revelation hit him harder than he expected, and he struggled to find a response.

Jungkook noticed Taehyung's reaction and leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a more serious tone. "Why are you sad, Tae? Isn't this what you wanted, when you left me?"

Taehyung's heart clenched at the words. "Then why did you kiss me at the club? Why did you tell me to choose us and wait for you?" he asked, his voice tinged with frustration and confusion.

Jungkook's gaze was unwavering as he replied, "You owe me, hyung. If you want us, you need to choose us over everything. You still need to prove your worth. I'm not going easy on you. I may forgive, but you have to earn it."

Before Taehyung could respond, Jungkook's phone rang, breaking the tension between them. Glancing at the screen, Jungkook answered,

"Oh, Namjoon hyung.

..........................

Yeah, I'm free for about 15 minutes. I'll come see you in your office."

After hanging up, Jungkook turned back to Taehyung. "I'll be back in 15 minutes, hyung. I need to see Namjoon hyung. And for what it's worth, I hope you get your happily ever after too."

With that, Jungkook walked out, leaving Taehyung standing there, his mind swirling with confusion. Taehyung wanted to scream, he knew Jungkook was planning something, but he couldn't quite figure out what. The younger man's cryptic words only added to his growing frustration and uncertainty.

Jungkook sat quietly in Namjoon’s office, his thoughts drifting back to the moment he left Taehyung. The image of Taehyung’s sad, confused face gnawed at him, filling him with guilt. What started as a defense mechanism to protect himself now felt like a mistake.

Jungkook… Jungkook?” Namjoon’s voice broke through his thoughts, causing Jungkook to flinch slightly.

“Sorry, hyung,” Jungkook replied sheepishly, realizing he had zoned out.

Namjoon smiled, though there was a hint of concern in his eyes. “I’m a little sad, you know. You never visit me.”

Jungkook chuckled, grateful for Namjoon’s attempt to lighten the mood. “Your workaholic brother has me working day and night. I barely have time to breathe, let alone visit.”

They both laughed, the sound easing some of the tension in the room. But the moment of levity was short-lived as silence settled between them.

Namjoon’s expression grew more serious. “Jin called me. Our father only mentioned the dinner on Saturday, never said a word about the marriage plans,” he admitted, a note of dejection in his voice.

Jungkook sighed, knowing this was the conversation he had been dreading. “I can’t take any risks, hyung. Not with everything that’s at stake. Your father already planned our marriage, and I  agreed with him. I know you will understand me why I did that. Forgive me hyung.”

Namjoon leaned forward, his gaze steady and reassuring. “Nothing’s going to happen, Jungkook. We’ll figure it out, I'll oppose the idea at the day of diner and will propose the idea of marrying You to Tae as a suggestion.”

Jungkook nodded, though the weight of the situation still pressed heavily on his shoulders. “Does Tae know about the dinner?”

“I don’t think so,” Namjoon replied. “But he’ll be there. Our father will make sure of it.”

Jungkook’s mind raced, the implications of the dinner weighing on him. “I’ll talk to Father before the dinner,” Namjoon said, his tone firm and resolute. “You don’t need to worry. I’ll handle it.”

Hmm,” was all Jungkook could manage in response. Despite Namjoon’s assurances, the unease in his chest remained, tangled up with the guilt he felt over Taehyung.

Namjoon reached across the desk, giving Jungkook’s arm a reassuring squeeze. “Trust me, Jungkook. We’ll get through this. Together.”

Jungkook offered a small smile, grateful for Namjoon’s support, but deep down, the uncertainty lingered, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that things were about to get even more complicated.
