The next morning, Taehyung informed Choi, that he wouldn’t be in the office for the day and to make sure he wasn’t called for anything. He had some personal matters to address, and he wanted to give them his full attention.
Meanwhile, as Jungkook stepped into the elevator, he found himself shoulder-to-shoulder with the woman who had been relentlessly giving him a hard time. She seemed pleased with herself, having overheard from Choi that Taehyung would be out all day. She seized the chance to jab at Jungkook, curiosity glinting in her eyes.
"So," she began with a condescending smile, "you still think you’re special to him? It’s almost pathetic, thinking someone like Mr. Kim would ever be serious about a mere employee."
Jungkook sighed, focusing on the elevator doors, but she continued.
"You really believe that he’d actually…what, take you seriously? Be in a relationship with someone like you?" she sneered.
As soon as they reached the break room, Jungkook headed to the coffee machine, but she and two other colleagues followed, clearly intent on making this as humiliating as possible. The others, now informed of the “rumor,” chuckled, joining in with teasing remarks about Jungkook’s “delusions.”
"Calling him ‘Jagiya’ like he’s your boyfriend," one of them laughed, "come on, Jungkook, don’t embarrass yourself."
"Yeah, keep dreaming," the other joined in. "There’s no way a guy like mr. Kim would actually go for you."
Just then, Jungkook’s phone vibrated, and he saw his mom’s name flash on the screen. He stepped away, answering the call and feeling an instant sense of calm wash over him.
"Hi, Mom," he greeted warmly.
"Hi, sweetheart! We’re all set with the engagement preparations. Just wanted to know how you envisioned it. Yoongi and I were thinking of keeping it simple, just close family and key business partners."
Jungkook glanced back at the group behind him, who were straining to overhear. He smiled slightly and made his voice a bit quieter.
"Actually, I was thinking I’d like it to be a grand function, Mom. Let’s invite everyone. Really make it something memorable, you know?"
His mom chuckled on the other end. "That sounds lovely, honey. But you are not a great fan of gatherings and all what happened to my baby?"
"That I wanted to show off my man." Yunji chuckled.
"Ohh show off your man in front of that annoying girl." Yunji teased
"I regret introduce Sia to you. I know about your gossips. Really Eomma, you guys are actually acting like those gossip aunties." Jungkook said and Yunji laughed at her son.
As he hung up, Jungkook turned around, noticing the way the others trying to eavesdrop him but failed. He smirks and ignored them and without sparing a second glance he poured his coffee and strode out from the room.

After a few hours of working, Jungkook received a call from Jae Hee, inviting him for lunch at the Kim mansion. Knowing Taehyung was unaware of the plan, Jungkook quickly booked a cab, excitement building at the thought of surprising him.
When he arrived, he rang the doorbell and waited, his heart racing a little. Inside, Taehyung was in the kitchen with his mother, snacking on some dry fruits as they chatted.
“Taehyung-ah, could you get the door?” Jae Hee asked.
Taehyung casually made his way to the door, opening it with a mild expression only for it to melt into surprise when he saw Jungkook standing there. Before he could say a word, Jungkook leaned in, planting a quick peck on his lips before stepping inside.
