Qingyang City is located in the Qingzhou region of the Nine Provinces. It is a prosperous area, bustling with merchants due to its strategic importance as a vital checkpoint of the Great Tianyuan Dynasty.
The sky is overcast, and the streets of Qingyang City, usually lively, are quiet today. A light, chilly breeze blows, accompanied by occasional raindrops.
A young man in green robes strolls down the street. Although he appears only around fourteen or fifteen years old, his face is quite delicate and refined. His narrow eyes, though, sparkle with a lively gleam.
As raindrops fall on his face and the cold wind rustles his green robe, he tastes the rainwater in his mouth, finding it somewhat bitter...
The youth points to a nearby building and shouts, "Damn it, kid on the second floor, stop peeing!"
Looking up, he sees a mischievous boy on the balcony of a nearby building, proudly flaunting his little "worm" and making a face at the youth before retreating inside.
The youth feels a bit nauseous and curses under his breath, "Damn it, that's why the rain tastes so salty and bitter. I'll make sure to teach that brat a lesson one day!"
Observing the darkening sky, he realizes that rain is imminent. He hurries through a few streets to arrive at a grand estate. The gate of the estate has the plaque "Zhuge Residence" inscribed in large characters.
In front of the Zhuge Residence, two men dressed as servants stand. Seeing the youth, they greet him with a smile, "Young Master, you're back~~"
The youth nods indifferently. Though the servant's words are polite, the youth can sense the disdain and contempt in his eyes.
Indeed, the youth is Zhuge Buyang, the youngest master of the Zhuge Residence. His name, Zhuge Buyang, seems to hint at a life of obscurity and unremarkability.
Despite being a young master, Zhuge Buyang is a concubine's son, born from a drunken liaison between the family head, Zhuge Songtao, and a maid. His mother died in childbirth.
Growing up in the Zhuge family with a low status, Zhuge Buyang is even looked down upon by some servants. Although they address him as "young master," his position is so low that he feels he is even less respected than the servants.
Entering the estate, he notices its grandeur with flying eaves, pavilions, and beautiful flowers. Yet, Zhuge Buyang, who has seen this for over ten years, finds nothing remarkable about it.
"Zhuge Buyang, where have you been?" A crisp voice, tinged with dissatisfaction, calls out.
Zhuge Buyang turns to see a young woman in a light yellow dress approaching. She is beautiful and graceful, with a somewhat arrogant expression.
"Elder Sister Mu Yan." Despite his reluctance, Zhuge Buyang calls out.
Zhuge Mu Yan is the daughter of Zhuge Buyang's second uncle. She approaches with an air of superiority and says, "Zhuge Buyang, I asked you to gather materials for my Snowstep Steed. Where is the feed?"
"I had something to do today and forgot," Zhuge Buyang replies nonchalantly.
"Zhuge Buliang, don't forget your place. The tasks I've given you should be taken seriously!" Zhuge Mu Yan said, with an air of arrogance and superiority.
"I'm not your servant. Why should I do everything you say?" Zhuge Buliang frowned.
"Hmph! You're merely a concubine's son, born of a maid, and you dare to talk back to me! In my eyes, you are even less than a servant! If I don't see enough fodder by tomorrow, I'll report you to my uncle. Remember that!" Zhuge Mu Yan said, glaring at Zhuge Buliang angrily before turning and leaving.
