It was almost Halloween.
The scent of cinnamon and spices filled most houses, and the leaves were a crisp golden brown on the floor. Sof and Sarah decided it was a perfect time for a halloween sleepover with their friends.

They were strolling in the supermarket, and Sarah was filling the basket with different cookies, snacks and decorations. Because of her families wealth, Sarah had gone full out. She got matching pajamas for the 5 friends, pumpkin face masks, their own cushions with customised names on it, and much more.

"Pumpkin hot chocolate sounds gross." Sof says, examining the container Sarah placed in the basket.

"Whatever, it'll be nice." Sarah assured her, popping some other stuff into the basket.

"I love fall. It's my favourite season." Sof says, sighing happily and looking around, taking in the smell of all the autumn candles. "And I'm so fucking hyped for this sleepover."

Sarah nods in agreement. "I've been planning it for so long, I swear to god." She scans over the large amount of stuff in her basket, approaching the till. "How many bags should I ask for?"

"Hmm. 4. We can carry the big stuff." Sof says, starting to unload all the stuff onto the counter. She woman at the till stares at them blankly as they pull out item after item. "Place your bet on the price." Sof whispers to Sarah.

"Pffft. $550?" Sarah suggests while unpacking the stuff from the cart. "The fairy lights are so expensive."

"Inflation." Sof smirks, helping stack the items, smelling a candle as she pulls it out. "Mmm."

After a while of unpacking, the total comes to $513, which Sarah happily pays, tipping the till lady $1 for her patience with all their stuff.
They leave the store and walk back to Sarah's. It took longer than anticipated, with several stops and breaks, but they eventually arrived at Sarah's house.

"Hey, Rafe!" Sarah yells at the top of her lungs, making Sof flinch a little. "Help us with our shopping!"

Rafe had been sat on the couch in the living room, a cigarette balanced between his lips and an empty can of Redbull on the floor beside him. At Sarah's words, he looks over to the doorway, eyebrow raised as he saw Sof enter along with his sister. Uninvited guests usally made him mad, this one however..

"Whatever," He sighs, stubbing out his cigarette and rising from the couch. "What do you need help with?" He walked over to the pair.

"See all this shit? For two girls like us we need a man to help us carry all the really heavy stuff upto my room." Sarah says, as if trying to tempt him.

Rafe scoffs and rolls his eyes slightly at the request, walking over to the bags and grabbing two at a time. "So heavy... I might pass out," He jokes sarcastically before carrying the bags upstairs, followed suit by the two girls.

Once everything was carried up he tosses the bags into Sarah's room, giving a small sigh. "Alright. Everything's up, happy now?"

"Thanks." Sarah smiles a little.

"Whatever." he mutters, sighing before leaning against the door frame and looking around the room, eyeing all the stuff that had been moved in. He had no doubt that tonight would leave the house filled with girls and a lot of noise. He lets his eyes wander around the room, lingering on Sof for a beat longer than necessary before his eyes eventually moved to Sarah, "Are you dressing up for halloween?"

"Yeah. Me and Sof are being vampires." Sarah nods to their outfits layed out on the floor.

"Vampires that become strippers? Rafe murmurs, looking over the outfits on the floor with a raised eyebrow. He snorts a little. "How creative."

"Shut the fuck up Rafe." Sarah snaps, narrowing her eyes at him. "Get out my room. We need to decorate."

Rafe rolls his eyes in return, scowling at his sister as he heard her snap. "Relax, you're so dramatic man- Christ.." he scolds, raising his hands dramatically. He looks between the two of you and sighed, "Enjoy your sleepover or whatever." With that he turns and walks from the room, heading to his own bedroom to hopefully enjoy silence.

Sarah sighs with relief. "He's such a pain in the ass."

Sof hums with agreement and kneels down on the floor. "He's kinda cute though." She says, unloading some of the snacks they got onto the floor.

Sarah's head snaps to her. "Ew, Sof. That's disgusting." She shakes her head and grabs the box of pumpkin lights. "He's not usually this nice." Sarah adds. "He's in therapy at the moment."

"Therapy?" Sof frowns, opening the packets of food and pouring them into the bowls. "How come?"

Sarah sighs heavily. "He's been diagnosed with a lot of shit. BPD, APD, psychopathy, and a ton more that I don't remember." She chews on her lip a little. "He's always struggled, y'know. He's got really bad anger issues, whenever we get into a fight he usually ends up breaking everything in the room."

"Oh." Sof's eyebrows knit together. "That sounds hard."

"Hm. He's very possessive and violent too. I'd stay away." She unwinds the lights. "Anyway, let's not talk about my brother."

Sof nods and continues unloading the candy into the halloween bowls. She feels like Rafe needed some real support, that isn't a random woman or man pressing him for information just so they can get payed. Therapists are shit, they don't actually care about their patient. If Rafe had all these disorders he needs them to be treated properly, not going out every night to get high on cocaine and ecstasy.
She shakes it off and continues unpacking, but it still bugs her. Maybe she should check on him later.
