"where am i" i muttered as i regained consciousness, i looked around to see the world appeared to have ended
"did it not work" i muttered, but then shook my head, the event would have made me well aware what was happening, so this posed the question, how did this happen without me involved in some form, i commanded the evangelion to it's feet, when i felt a huge amount of pain rush through my body, i knew in that second that things were wrong, still i didn't have the situation so, i bared with the pain, as unit-01, got back on it's feet, i attempted to take a step, felt a searing amount of pain and fell over, sighing, i began to concentrate on moving unit-01's head, i needed to see the damages the EVA had taken, what i saw did not bode well for me
"well, when two hundred N2 bombs are dropped upon me i guess this is the result" i said to myself, i pulled unit-01 upright for the second time and began to limp my way out of the city
i ran across a settlement not two minutes later, and sighed in relief, this world wasn't completely destroyed but it also cemented my point, that said seeing everyone run at the sight of unit-01, did not bode well, at the edge of town the EVA kneeled, and the entry plug pushed itself out so i could get out
"you got back in unit-01" toji said, for i recognized him immediately
"got back in, all i remember is being trapped inside the twelfth angel, what are you talking about it" i said
"you never fought.........." he paused as he stared at unit-01 for a long moment, it was unit-01, there was no mistaking that, but it was different despite the damages the EVA took it was clearly, not the unit-01, they all remembered, combine that with the knowledge that this shinji believed he fought the twelfth angel, a fact he knew to be false
"wait here, shinji" he said
"WAIT, what did this, i need to know" i said, he looked me square in the eye
"you did" he replied, before turning and leaving me, i was utterly lost, and utterly terrified, a few moments later he came back with kensuke in tow
kensuke took one look at unit-01 and nodded
"that's not our unit-01" kensuke agreed
"what does that mean" toji asked
"it means that this shinji is innocent, and likely different from the one we know" kensuke said
"please explain" i said, he paused
"this is just speculation on my part, lords know i am no ritsuko akagi" he said, i nodded
"alright, what is the last thing that happened" he asked
"NERV decided the only way to solve their predicament was to drop two hundred N2 bombs on me" i said, they flinched, that was not something either of them expected to hear, and it somewhat proved kensuke's theory, first shinji specifically said NERV, and everyone knew gendo ikari wanted unit-01 intact, the second was the WILLE did not have two hundred N2 bombs, they had maybe ten of them at max
"listen shinji, i believe that you are from another dimension" he said
"i need to get back, there are still more angels for us to fight" he said, their eyes widened
"more then twelve" toji asked i nodded
"i don't know the exact number but yes, trust me, i wouldn't care two much if the one i just almost died to was the last, but it's not"
"well, point in your book, our shinji would be curling up into a ball, and despairing over the worlds unfairness" he said, he blushed
"i do that, when i'm not busy, trying to save it" i said
"what you do in your off time is no ones business but your own....... i don't know how WILLE will feel about you, our shinji has caused two impact events already" kensuke said
"who is WILLE and how" i asked
"one of them was accidental, though he is still blamed for it regardless, he lost control of his unit-01 fighting our tenth angel, the other was another........ shinji you said you had to get back to your world" he said
"and i do" i said
"there is a way, NERV has an evangelion, designated unit-13, you'll need to steal it, but, it would do us all a favor if you did" he said
"tell me more" i said
"the EVA was constructed to cause instrumentality, more then any other EVA unit ever, including our unit-01" he then went on to explain what instrumentality was, and that it was NERV's current goal
"if you can steal unit-13, and get it out of our dimension many would be in your dept" kensuke said
"where is it" i asked
"kredit says he is heading to antarctica" toji said
"where everything started" i muttered, i nodded
"thanks both of you" i said
"shinji" toji said, i looked towards him
"once you have unit-13, there is another EVA in america the Mk.6, take that too, that unit has similar reaching consequences" toji said, i nodded and climbed my way back into unit-01, not the easiest task in the world but i did it
as the entry-plug slid into place, i saw kensuke pointing in the general direction of NERV, i sighed and began to limp my way in that direction
"do you think we did the right thing" kensuke asked
"this shinji seems to be a lot more proactive, and he genuinely cares, i can tell that at least, but with gendo ikari you never know, only time will tell" toji answered
