Chapter 3 unexpected encounter

After the registry, Gu Sheng Nan was taken to a breathtaking mansion, where she was greeted by Emily, a lovely maid. "Master is not around, but I'll show you to your room," Emily said.

As Gu Sheng Nan settled in, she decided to take a shower. Meanwhile, Zhang Li returned home, and their paths crossed in the most unexpected way. Gu Sheng Nan, wrapped in a towel, was startled by Zhang Li's sudden appearance. He, too, was taken aback by her beauty, but quickly composed himself.

"Please cover up," he said, his expression stern.

Gu Sheng Nan apologized and stammered, sensing the intensity of the man before her. Zhang Li dismissed her, saying, "It's alright. From tomorrow, you'll sleep in another room. I'll inform the maids."

As he left, Gu Sheng Nan sighed in relief, thinking she had escaped the consummation of their wedding for the time being. She slept peacefully, unaware of the turmoil brewing in Zhang Li's mind.

In his study, Zhang Li was on a call with his arch-nemesis, Ming Yue. Their conversation hinted at a brewing storm in the underworld, with a battle or vote looming on the horizon.

The next morning, Gu Sheng Nan's phone rang, breaking the silence. It was her best friend and confidante, Xiaolu. "Nan Nan, I heard you got married without telling me! Wasn't that our promise?"

Gu Sheng Nan sighed, explaining how the Gu family had arranged her marriage. Xiaolu offered to meet up and discuss the situation, inquiring about the boy who had helped Gu Sheng Nan years ago – the one she had promised to repay by marrying him.

Memories flooded Gu Sheng Nan's mind as she recalled the mysterious boy who had saved her from kidnappers. She had never forgotten his kindness and the way he seemed to control the situation with just his words. She wondered if she would ever see him again, as he had promised to find her.
