Chapter 11: Family Confrontation
At the Gu mansion, Sheng Nan greeted her father, ignoring her stepmother and stepsister. Sir Gu asked her to acknowledge them, but Sheng Nan remained focused on her father.
"I saw your message, so what's up?" she asked.
Sir Gu cleared his throat, struggling to discipline her due to Zhang Li's influence. "I need you to return what you took from your sister," he said firmly.
Sheng Nan looked at Gu Xiao and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Gu Xiao stood up, her eyes blazing. "I want Zhang Li back! He was supposed to marry me before I was replaced!"
Sheng Nan felt a pang in her heart but refused to back down. "You were pregnant with another man's child, so he couldn't marry you. He married me instead, and I've left my past for him. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you can't take him away from me. He's mine."
Gu Xiao shouted, "Dad, see how shameless she is, claiming what's not hers!"
Sheng Nan smirked, "He was never yours to begin with."
Just then, Zhang Li walked in, his eyes darkening as he saw Gu Xiao's aggressive stance. "If that hand had touched my wife, I would have cut it off," he warned, his voice low and menacing.
The room fell silent, except for Sheng Nan, who felt a surge of love and protection towards Zhang Li. Unbeknownst to them, Zhang Li had finally realized his true feelings for Sheng Nan - possessiveness, love, and a desire to protect her for life.
