📍FAMU Campus🐍
...
Seoni's phone buzzed again, another message from Santana trying to convince her to go to the party. She really wasn't in the mood to be around people, but Santana wasn't letting up.
"Come on, Se! You promised!" the latest text read.
Seoni sighed, rolling her eyes. "I know, I know. I'm coming. But I swear, Santana, if this is lame, I'm leaving early," she typed back, finally giving in.
"Yay! Get ready! I'll meet you there," Santana replied almost instantly.
Seoni shook her head, tossing the phone aside. She really was dreading going out tonight. She wasn't the partying type, but she wasn't a liar either, so she stuck to her word and started getting ready.
"Hmmm, what should I wear?" she murmured, glancing over at her walk-in closet. Dedric had made sure Seoni was set, getting her a condo close to campus where she could live comfortably and keep things in order-just the way she liked it.
As she sat up on her bed, she found herself still debating what to put on. Her mom used to always tell her to dress up and feel beautiful when she went out. The thought brought a small smile to Seoni's face as she walked over to her closet, memories of her mom flooding back.
Her mom had been her best friend, and Seoni missed those moments more than anything. Living almost two hours away from her mom's gravesite made it hard to visit as often as she wanted, and the guilt weighed heavily on her. She felt like she was losing the connection with her mother, and sometimes she couldn't even remember her voice or the scent of her perfume.
After scanning through her clothes, she finally settled on a black Alexander Wang mini dress paired with her Drkshdw Rick Owens sneakers. At least it wasn't sweats, she thought. Seoni had a serious shopping problem-one of the few ways she pampered herself, even if no one else was around to see it.
By 9:15, Seoni was nearly ready to leave. She sprayed on some Prada Candy perfume, grabbed her black Marc Jacobs Snapshot bag, and headed out the door.
"Good, it's only 15 minutes away," she muttered to herself as she backed out of the parking garage, music playing softly as she drove.
Fifteen minutes later, Seoni arrived at the party.
"Omg bestie, you actually came! I thought you were lyingggg!!!" Santana shouted out as she pulled Seoni into a hug.
"I should've stayed home if you gonna be doing all this hugging," Seoni replied with an aggravated expression. Not having any parental affection anymore had really affected her; it was extremely hard for her to show any love.
"The hell you will. Come over here, I'm about to introduce you to my brother and my friends," Santana said, pulling Seoni through the party. All eyes were glued on her because people hadn't seen this fine girl around school.
