It was finally Saturday, my sleep-in day. After a long week at school, the thing I loved most was my Saturday mornings, when Cait, Katie and Kyra went to training and I had the house all to myself, it was peaceful, and I got to be comfortably alone. No one to boss me around or tell me what I was doing wrong, just me, my own thoughts, and a rapidly filling journal, which at times could be equally dangerous.
I remembered to close my curtains last night meaning that when I woke up there was no sun flashing across my face, it was instead calmingly dark. The house was quiet, suggesting that everyone had already left, so I hopped up, threw a hoodie over my head and headed down to the living room.
Katie and Caitlin had a PS5 and I'd only just started to play it, so I intended to spend my morning lounging on the couch to play FC24. Turning the volume up, I still hadn't clocked what the time was. I started with a warm-up game, the commentators calling out every play I made.
"Dude, turn it turn down," Kyra scolded as she trudged into the living room. I nearly jumped out of my skin at her presence, I had entirely expected the house to be empty. She slumped onto the couch resting her head in my lap, forcing my hand to massage her head.
"You gave me a heart attack," I breathed out, twirling my fingers through her hair. "Aren't you meant to be at training?" I questioned.
"It's not even 8 am," she replied, lifting her phone from her chest to show me the time. "We don't normally leave until after 9 am, you're just never awake to know. Can't say it was pleasant to be woken with FC24 blasting through the house," she scolded.
"Sorry, I hadn't checked the time. I did feel that the sun was a bit low in the sky." Kyra nodded grudgingly as the two other housemates joined us in the living room.
"Have you heard of the volume button?" Katie questioned as she flopped onto the couch at Kyra's feet.
"She hasn't," Cait added laying down on the Irish woman's chest. Everyone looked half asleep as they all tried not to get angry at me for waking them up so early. "You're lucky our alarms were set to go off in 15 minutes," the oldest Aussie warned.
I nodded frantically with a straight face. "I didn't know what time it was, normally you guys have left before I get up so I just assumed," I rambled out.
"It's okay, don't worry about it. Just check what the time is next time, okay?" Katie reminded me with a smile.
"Will do."
The trio watched me play FC24 for fifteen minutes until their alarms went off. They headed up to get ready but, before leaving, Katie asked a question. "You want to come to training?"
"I'm still grounded," I replied rather confused.
"You haven't answered the question," Katie fired back.
"Yes?" I said cautiously.
"Okay, go get ready. Leah's been complaining that she misses you, and I think you've served your punishment."
"Oh my god, thank you," I yelled jumping off the couch and into arms.
"Has it really been that painful being grounded?" she questioned.
"Yes." I dropped to the floor and sprinted up the stairs, scrambling through my wardrobe to find something appropriate to wear. I wanted to avoid wearing anything tight that could possibly reveal the bandages around my thigh, while still attempting to look cute.
"Knock, knock. Can I wear this?" I asked Kyra as I waited patiently at her door.
"You look cute," she replied. I was wearing a hoodie and a pair of tracksuit pants, something simple and comfy yet warm. It was getting closer and closer to single digits every day, and I was becoming quite thankful for the difference in temperature between Australia and England. "How do I look?" the young Aussie asked with a twirl.
