The staff at Van Leeuw Manor moved about with purpose, busily preparing the dining area. The table was elegantly set with lavish utensils and fine china, featuring a stunning centerpiece at its heart. Meanwhile, the kitchen staff worked diligently, crafting an array of delicious dishes with meticulous care.
"Is it your grandfather's birthday?"
Sophia asked with curiosity.
"No, Sophia. He just has some guests coming over."
Alex replied.
As Alex and Sophia silently watched the staff make final touches, the dining room door opened. Alfonzo Van Leeuw and Damon entered, followed by Henry, Lucas, and Jessica.
"That's—"
Sophia began, speechless as she saw her family.
"Grandfather invited them for dinner tonight."
Alex explained.
Sophia rushed to her grandpa and parents, enveloping them in a tight hug.
"Grandpa! Mom! Dad! Oh, I missed you so much!"
She exclaimed, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"We missed you too, dear."
Jessica said, holding her daughter close.
"Very well. Now that everyone's here, let's take our seats and enjoy dinner."
Alfonzo said, inviting everyone to gather on the dining table.
Sophia was overjoyed to reunite with her family and share a meal together once more, especially since it had been so long since their last gathering at the wedding.
"I'm glad you could join us tonight, Henry,"
Alfonzo began.
"Absolutely, my friend," Henry replied with a smile. "We've been busy in town for a while, but we couldn't miss the chance to share a meal with our dear Sophia."
"Very well. Make sure you all eat plenty and enjoy the food!"
Alfonzo said with a laugh.
"We certainly will, Alfonzo," Henry responded with a chuckle. "I honestly thought you invited us to negotiate another deal. I don't have any more grandchildren, my friend."
Both old men shared a laugh when, suddenly, Alex spoke to Henry with a firm and serious tone.
"I actually do have a request, sir."
Sophia glanced at Alex with a mix of concern and confusion.
"Yes, what is it, Alex?"
Henry asked, curiosity in his voice.
Alex's expression was solemn as he fixed his gaze on Henry.
"With all due respect, sir, I would like to request Sophia's and my marriage be voided."
Sophia's eyes widened in shock at Alex's unexpected request. Her hands trembled with disbelief as she struggled to understand why Alex would make such a demand.
Henry and Sophia's parents were equally bewildered by the request, their faces reflecting confusion. Meanwhile, Alfonzo and Damon maintained blank yet calm expressions on their faces.
"Alex, what are you talking about?"
Sophia's voice was soft yet brimming with concern, her eyes full of questions.
Alex remained calm and serious, his gaze fixed on Henry, awaiting his response.
