Another war won.

Such victories used to bring so much satisfaction and pride to alpha Killian, today though he felt nothing, absolutely nothing, just the same numbness that overtook his body that day, yeah that day that keeps replaying in his mind over and over again like a broken recorder. The only reason he hadn't withered away was because he knew he had a responsibility to protect her, even if she didn't want him.
He is a beast, yes, but the only thing this beast knows how to do is protect. That notion had fueled him to finally put his head back in the game and smoke out 'the fallen '.

Though something didn't feel right, for someone who had the brains to make a rogue army, it had been almost too easy to find. Killian was most definitely looking that up later.

He slowly led his own army back into their pack territory ,giving his Beta the privilege to howl into the night announcing their victory and their return. More howls echoed from his own army followed by the wolves back home.

As alpha, he was first to emerge from the forest, making his way to the pack hospital. He could tell the attendees were waiting for them equipped and ready for a busy night of treating the wounded.
Alpha, like a few other wolves, was carrying one of the wounded over his left shoulder, the wolf was unconscious, unable to shift due to injuries but  he was still alive. They never leave any soldier behind, whether dead or severely injured, they always brought them back home. This time though  alpha Killian was pleased he didn't lose any warrior , severe injuries, yes, but he is confident in his hospital team all will be saved. That was another thing, those rogues were a lot but not trained in the slightest, what master mind recruited without training ,it just wasn't adding up. The council, however, was satisfied they even sent their own men to bring in the wolf that claimed to be 'the fallen ' to their high court for justice, a bunch of old cocksuckers can't even do their jobs right. Alpha Killian would have used that imposter to get more information .

He dropped the injured wolf to one of the nurses who had hurriedly approached him with a stretcher ,wheeling him into the emergency room. Another nurse rushed to him with a wheelchair, Killian raised an eyebrow at her, growling lowly as he turned his back to go and drown his remaining self with work. Being still even for a minute meant certain memories of a certain lady to surface and squeeze his aching heart even more.

Alpha Killian suddenly made a sharp turn facing the hospital his nose flaring. Her, he could smell her sweet scent, his eye lids involuntarily closed his pulse raising. Fuck he had missed that scent,  every other scent appeared dull to him just hers stood out. Killian had kept away, he knew his mate was scared of him ,so he kept away. He did keep tabs on her, of course, but he never dared go near her himself. And this was the exact reason he didn't, once he had a sniff he was a gonna, he couldn't control himself, he wanted more and like a moth drawn to light he found himself following the scent into the hospital.

The hospital was chaotic and busier than normal, but it all sounded distant as her scent grew stronger. Some nurses and doctors were trying to stop him to give him the medical attention he physically needed, but he ignored them. When he arrived from war, he refused medical assistance because the pain made him feel alive despite his numbness, the pain was hope, a reminder that he wasn't too far gone.
Also a good distraction from the unbearable pain in his chest .

Now, he ignored the nurses because he understood there's a greater wound that needed healing and none of them could help, none except Her.

Killian found himself stood at the entrance of a busy ward, just like the rest of the hospital. Her presence and scent was strongest there. Without the help of his wolf, Killian's senses weren't as highlighted as they normally should be,  nothing is as it normally should, his strength, his stealth , his healing, especially his healing but he is the alpha Killian, wolf or not he managed perfectly. But now he couldn't quite tell the aura his mate was emitting unless he goes close enough, and we all know what happened last time,  Killian was most definitely not risking it.

At that particular moment, the chaos in the ward seemed to die down as those eyes fell on him, it didn't matter how bad his senses had gotten, those eyes roaming his form were unmistakable.
He stood frozen in place, waiting for her to make a move holding his breath in fear she might run again.

A gasp escaped her, and Killian took a step back, it was happening again, she was scared of him. He made it worse,  he shouldn't have followed her scent,  any non-existent healing his heart had done would be demolished again with more scaring,  he really shouldn't have.
Good Lord, he could only imagine how he looked, covered in his enemies blood, his injured warriors blood and his own blood, the flesh wounds.....the list was endless, he definitely looked more horrifying than last time. A beast.

He shouldn't have.

A part of him wanted to just shorten the distance between them hold her, mark her and never let her go, even when she didn't want him. That part had him clenching his fists restraining himself, proving his wolf alone wasn't to blame for the monster in him. He could lose her forever, if that hadn't already happened.

Fucking hell, he really shouldn't have.
