Ria's POV:
As I stepped into The Lagoon, the first thing that hit me was the overwhelming scent of exotic spices mixed with a hint of citrus. The club's interior was a vibrant mix of deep purples and neon greens, with lush, tropical decor that felt like a jungle fantasy. Large, glowing fish tanks lined the walls, filled with colorful marine life that seemed to pulse in rhythm with the music. There were plush, velvet couches scattered around, and the lighting was a soft, ambient glow that created an intimate, yet lively atmosphere.
Nikolai was easy to spot, standing tall by the bar with his usual confident demeanor. His black shirt and jeans were perfectly fitted, contrasting sharply with the bright surroundings. As I made my way over, I noticed Harvey, Dickie, Noah, Padma, Kieran, Jade, Ash, and Camryn scattered around. They were all chatting, laughing, and clearly having a great time. Some of the people looked like they might be on the hockey team, but I couldn't be sure. Or maybe Ivy's football team.
I took a deep breath, trying to focus on Nikolai. I had been trying hard to suppress my feelings for him, knowing full well that I shouldn't be attracted to him. It was easier said than done, especially with him looking so effortlessly charming. The tutoring lesson we had on Wednesday really left me speechless.
"Victoria!" Nikolai called out, his voice cutting through the hum of conversation and music. He waved me over with a grin that made my heart skip a beat.
"Hi," I said, trying to sound casual as I approached him. I could feel my nerves creeping up as I scanned the bar menu. I had been dreading this part—drinking alcohol. It wasn't something I was particularly comfortable with yet.
Nikolai's eyes sparkled with a mix of amusement and something else I couldn't quite place. "So, what'll it be? Are you finally going to join the rest of us in enjoying a drink?"
I hesitated, glancing around at the crowded space. "I... I don't know. I'm not really into drinking."
Nikolai raised an eyebrow, his expression one of playful challenge. "Come on, Victoria. It's not like you have to get plastered. Just one drink won't hurt. It's about having fun letting go, getting out of your comfort zone, not getting wasted."
I bit my lip, weighing my options. I knew I had to face my fear eventually, and I mean if Nikolai wanted to take advantage of me he had literally so many chances already. I took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright, I'll have a mojito."
Nikolai gave me a satisfied grin and grabbed the coconut mojito with lots of ice. When I handed him my fake ID, he glanced at it briefly before smirking. "Nice."
What? I wasn't 21 yet. My birthday was in March, it was the end of November currently. Lia had gotten me a fake ID as high school graduation present, which came in very handy now.
I took the drink from him and took a sip. The taste was incredible—refreshing, with a perfect balance of mint and coconut. Different than the ones I had tried in the past, but so damn delicious. It was so good that I couldn't help but take another, more generous sip. Before I knew it, I had downed the entire glass.
Nikolai watched me with an amused expression as I ordered another mojito. "Whoa there, Victoria. Slow down. You've got all night to enjoy these."
I took the second mojito and sipped it more slowly this time, though the alcohol was already starting to work its magic. The warmth spread through me, and I felt more relaxed. I could see Nikolai watching me with a curious look.
"Feeling any different?" he asked, his tone teasing.
I giggled, feeling the effects of the alcohol start to make my thoughts a bit fuzzy. "Maybe a little. This drink is amazing, though. Why haven't I tried this before?"
