It had been weeks since Brian had last spoken to his sister Rose. Life had become a chaotic blur. He had been chasing Herculeana. leaving little time for anything else. But tonight was different. Tonight, he finally made time for his family, sitting down with Rose, Diamond, and his other sisters Stacey and Gina.Brian found comfort in Diamond, his closest sister, who always had a calm energy about her. She had been his rock, someone he could confide in when everything else felt like it was spiraling out of control. But tonight, Rose was distant, barely looking at him as they sat at the dining room table.
Rose had changed. She wasn't the same girl who had clung to her older brother for advice and comfort. No, now she was colder, more distant. There was a trace of bitterness in her eyes that cut into Brian's heart. It was the first time in weeks they were truly alone together, and Rose wasted no time in making her feelings known.
"So u nuh answer phone and dem thing deh?" Rose said, her voice calm but laced with resentment. "You've been running after that girl and neglecting your own family, you could never get anything else from me after this, no, after you show me how you really are " she kissed her teeth
Brian tried to apologize, but the words fell flat. She had already moved on. In fact, Rose was happier than he had ever seen her in months.
"Rose, I don't... what happened? tell me"
She fell silent for a second. She didn't want to ruin things between her and James. So she didn't tell him, they were friends and she didn't want to spoil that
"I'm fine Brian."but Brian was still stuck in his obsession with Herculeana. He couldn't help himself to even acknowledge what his sister just said. He had told his family about her, describing her beauty, her charm, and how she had captivated him. But his family wasn't as impressed. They had heard stories, particularly from Rose, about how Herculeana had treated James—how she had supposedly cheated on him, played with his emotions, and left him heartbroken.
"Use your head, u nuh think she a use you Brian?" his sister Diamond said, trying to be gentle, but her words still hit hard. "People like that... they don't care about others. They care about their own power."
"Bro what the fuck, be fi real, I'm not dumb I know what I'm doing" he then got a realization "How do you even know herculeana, you're just in middle school?"
"So?"
He frowned "I bet rose told you all about her, mi feel like she a fuck James, but nobody naa talk about that, everyone is ganging up on me? The fuck did I do?"
Diamond eyes widened "no way Rose is that stupid to actually go be with him"
"Do you see how she acts? Honestly someone needs to knock some sense into her," he took a sip of drink "I would tell mom but, I don't know"
Diamond rolled her eyes "Lowe di gyal, at least she's glowing don't you see how happy she is?"
Brian went deep into thought. Her glowing only meant one thing, he had a number of female friends, and every time they mentioned that word "glowing" it only meant one thing. Eughhh. He quickly shoved the thought out his mind. Her business was her business and he wasn't going to meddle in it. It made him too uncomfortable.
He still couldn't get his mind off herculeana though he spent night wondering that he did wrong. When he told his mother about the problem she told him he should maybe find someone else to focus his Time on
But Brian couldn't see it that way. To him, Herculeana was different. He felt something deeper with her, something that he believed no one else could understand. He didn't care about the rumors or the warnings. He was willing to risk it all.
Late at night, after the conversation with his family, Brian sat in his room, the weight of their words heavy on his mind. But his obsession with Herculeana wouldn't let him rest. He began writing letters to her, each one carefully crafted, pouring out his admiration, his infatuation. He sent roses, a Snow White Swarovski set, a limited edition enchanted Disney Snow White Diamond ring and a Mosaique Au 24 platinum tea set from Hermes. He did all this hoping she would notice the effort he put into everything. He even bought her an expensive bag, something that he thought would make her feel special.
At first, Herculeana's responses were minimal. She was busy, she said, always giving just enough attention to keep him hooked but never enough to satisfy his desires. But Brian didn't care. He was happy just to hear from her, even if it was the smallest acknowledgment. To him, it was proof that she wasn't using him. That maybe, just maybe, she felt something for him, too.
And then it happened. One day, out of the blue, Herculeana came back to him as if nothing had ever been wrong. She acted as if she hadn't left him in the dark for weeks, as if she hadn't driven him mad with longing and obsession.
She visited their house, Brian's mom pretending to be enthusiastic about her visit
"Selena!" She called to her, remembering the nickname Brian gave to her"Hi Mrs. Williams"
"He's upstairs" she quickly said and went back on her device
She saw him, Diamond was sitting beside him chatting.
She quickly turned around " someone's here for you"
Brian turned around
"Selena" he let out a sigh of relief while Diamond exited the room"What brings you here?" He went to hold her hands
She headed towards his bed and took a seat "what do you think?" She smiled at him "I came to see you"
He felt a strong tingling in his cheeks. Was he blushing?
"So what do you wanna do ? Youwannawatchamovie orrr?" She said those words really fast
"We can do whatever you want"
They fell silent for a while and he went closer to his bed.
"I like the gifts you sent"
"Oh yeah? Which one?"
He had a feeling which one he was gonna say, he said the ring in his mind
"I like the ring, and the letters too, Particularly the one about my eyes"
He suddenly felt uneasy, he didn't know if herculeana truly cared for him or she was just pretending it was mind boggling for him.
"Do you care about me?"
"Yes Brian I do care, It's just that... I don't know, I just feel like we're moving too fast you know , plus family stuff"
He immediately knew what she was referring to not tugging any further.
"I really missed you" she said "I'm sorry I didn't reach out sooner you know"
Brian's heart raced as Herculeana kissed him when he went closer to the bed her lips soft and inviting. He felt as though everything he had been working for, all the pain and suffering, had finally led to this moment. They ended up in bed together, and Brian felt like he had won some sort of victory. But as he lay there afterward, holding her in his arms, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was still missing.
———-Do you think Herculeana is actually busy. Does she actually like Brian?
