BOOK 1~A Broken Beginning

Chapter 17

     Bramblepaw wandered around aimlessly, not knowing he was in Rogue territory. He huffed at him being alone as Blazepaw didn't need to worry because of him being a Medicine cat and Snowpaw had Hollowpaw.

     Bone scented the small apprentice and leaped away from Robin. He darted towards the scent, and stepped on dry leaves quietly, snapping Echo's eyes open. Echo got up and sneaked after Bone, then easily recognized the brown tom as Bramblepaw. Bone leaped out at the small tom hissing loudly. Bramblepaw jumped back and realized the situation.

     He snuggled against Snowpaw's side and groomed her head as she slept. He purred to himself knowing the one he loved felt safe.

     Echo pricked her ears and slipped under a small bush easily through the thorny branches. She dug into the ground slightly and watched as Bramblepaw hissed at Bone though his foot quivered as he stepped back. Echo backed out and took a large turn, acting as if she didn't follow.

     "What's going on?" Echo yawned. Her eyes widened in fake surprise as she saw her father and Bramblepaw.

      "Clan scum," bone sneered. Bramblepaw gave him a sharp glare and turned his gaze at the small shecat. Thought she was small her almost white eyes were unkind and rough but her pelt was sleek and clean, glimmering in the sunlight. She puffed up her fur, trying to look bigger but only looked cuter. Bramblepaw shook the thought away and turned back to Bone.

      "Just let him go he's no use to us," Echo sneered. Bramblepaw looked at her one more time seeing a flash of sympathy then back to her hard look. Bramblepaw sighed and padded away, looking back once seeing Echo gazing at him.

      Echo broke her gaze and shook her head before following her adopted father.

     "You were adorable out there," Bone sneered.

     "Shut up," Echo hissed.

     Bone chuckled.

     "You like him, don't you?" Bone asked with a smirk.

     Echo bristled her pelt angrily and blushed as she faced the older cat in a stone cold glare.

     "No! He's a wimp..." She hissed. 'In a good way...' she thought to herself.

     "Right," Bone said sarcastically.

     "I hate you. You're a bad person." Echo hissed aggressively before racing back to her pack.

     Bone gazed after her with a smirk. 'My girl is growing up' he thought happily. He trotted after her and padded up to robin, nuzzeling her gently.

     "She's still small. Will she ever grow?" Robin sighed, looking at Echo.

     "I think she's going to be the size of a 7 moon cat forever," Bone sighed.

     Echo heard what Bone had said, and she looked down sadly.

     'How could my own father say that about me?' she thought to herself sadly.

     "Echo, come here, please." Echo heard Bone's voice call.
