"Love?" – Riel

Riel stood rooted in her office, her gaze fixed on In-Yeop, a man who once held a significant place in her heart. Yet, the warmth of that love had been extinguished by his betrayal, leaving behind a bitter residue of pain and resentment. His presence, now a familiar intruder, stirred up a tempest of emotions within her.

"Riel, please listen to me," In-Yeop said, his voice low and husky. "I know I hurt you, but I want to make it up to you. I want to prove that I'm committed to our relationship."

In-Yeop's words, though laced with sincerity, fell on deaf ears. The promise of a second chance, a mere echo of his past transgressions, seemed hollow and insincere. The memory of his abandonment, the void he had left in her life, and the shattered dreams of their future together, all resurfaced with a painful clarity.

Her skepticism was palpable, her voice laced with a biting sarcasm. "Oh, how original. You think a simple 'I want to make it up to you' will fix everything?" Her words were a reflection of her deep-seated hurt, a defense mechanism to shield herself from further emotional turmoil.

In-Yeop's face fell, but he didn't back down. "Riel, I know I don't deserve it, but I'm asking for a second chance. I want to be with you, to be a father to Inho."

In-Yeop's plea for forgiveness, his desire to be a father to their son, Inho, touched a raw nerve within Riel. The years of absence, the missed milestones of Inho's life, had left a gaping wound in her heart. Yet, she was wary of allowing In-Yeop back into their lives, fearing that his presence would only reopen old wounds.

In-Yeop's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze burning with intensity. "I know I've missed out on so much, but I want to make it up to him, to you. I love you, Riel."

Her laughter, a bitter, mocking sound, was a testament to her disbelief. "Love? You think you can just say that and expect me to melt? I'm not that girl anymore, In-Yeop. I'm stronger now." Her words were a declaration of independence, a refusal to be defined by her past.

In-Yeop took a step closer, his eyes never leaving mine. "I'm not asking for the girl you used to be, Riel. I'm asking for the woman you are now. I want to get to know her, to love her."

In-Yeop's persistence, his unwavering determination to win her back, was both admirable and unsettling. His words, though heartfelt, were met with a guarded skepticism. Riel had learned a hard lesson about trust, and she was hesitant to let down her guard.

I raised an eyebrow, my expression mocking. "Oh, how sweet. You want to love me? Well, isn't that just perfect."

In-Yeop's face fell, but he didn't give up. "Riel, please-"

I cut him off, my voice firm. "In-Yeop, I've heard enough. You can't just charm your way back into my heart. It's going to take a lot more than that."

In-Yeop's eyes dropped, but he nodded. "I understand. I'll do whatever it takes, Riel. I'll prove my love to you."

I raised an eyebrow, my expression skeptical. "We'll see about that," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

In-Yeop's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze burning with intensity. "I mean it, Riel. I'll do whatever it takes to win you back."

I snorted, a harsh, mocking sound. "You're going to have to do a lot better than that if you want to impress me."

In-Yeop's face fell, but he didn't back down. "I'll start by being a good father to Inho," he said, his voice filled with determination. "I want to be a part of his life, to watch him grow and learn."

I felt a pang of emotion at his words, but I pushed it aside. I couldn't let myself get weak around him. Not yet, at least.

"Inho doesn't need a father who's going to abandon him again," I said, my voice firm.

In-Yeop's eyes dropped, and he nodded. "I know. I was wrong to leave you and Inho. But I'm back now, and I'm not going anywhere."

I raised an eyebrow, my expression mocking. "We'll see about that," I repeated.

In-Yeop's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze burning with intensity. "I'm not going anywhere, Riel. I'm in this for the long haul."

I felt a shiver run down my spine at his words, but I refused to back down. I couldn't let him get to me. Not yet, at least.

"We'll see about that," I said again, my voice firm.

In-Yeop nodded, a small smile on his face. "I'm willing to prove it to you, Riel. I'll do whatever it takes to win you back."

I raised an eyebrow, my expression skeptical. "We'll see about that," I repeated, my voice dripping with sarcasm.

But as I looked into In-Yeop's eyes, I couldn't help but feel a spark of hope. Maybe, just maybe, he was telling the truth. Maybe he was willing to do whatever it took to win me back.

And maybe, just maybe, I was willing to let him try.

In-Yeop's heart ached with the weight of his past mistakes. He yearned for Riel's forgiveness, for a chance to redeem himself. His love for her, though tested by time and distance, remained unwavering.

His words, though sincere, were met with Riel's resistance.

He understood her skepticism, her fear of being hurt again. But he was determined to prove his love, to show her that he had changed.
His desire to be a part of Inho's life was genuine.

The guilt and regret of his absence weighed heavily on his conscience. He yearned for the opportunity to be a father to his son, to make up for the lost time.
