Father

Once upon a time
He held a small angel
Thanking the grace of god
Intrigued at the fate's tangle

Step by step he saw her grow
Seeds of kindness he did sow
Fear that one day she was to leave
Prayed the time to give him reprieve

Gradually she learnt
History and boundaries man burnt
Ugly truths of the dark world
Best hidden but yet with time unfurled

Soon those eyes no more tender
That bond over the year meaningless rendered
She wondered was it an oasis
Shown to her in the desert of simmering crisis

Where is humanity
When treating another daughter
Who set sail for life of your pity
When you promised her to look after

No more does she believe the lies
Maybe the bond was an oasis
Once deceived by a father's guise
She sees it's a reflection of the world's harsh basis
