Being held by her hand, Artemis walked up the metal ramp, a mix of confusion and fear enveloping her. She and the person guiding her entered what seemed like a spaceship.

"Welcome Artemis, to your new home," a masculine voice beside her spoke.
As the person spoke, Artemis's attention was pulled away from the floor as the corner of her eyes became swarmed by flashing lights. Once she saw the scenery before her, she couldn't help but gape in shock.

Tables were swarmed with liquids being pumped into tubes and beakers, creating concoctions that emitted various reactions that ranged from mere smoke to excessive sparkles. Alongside the machines pumping the liquids were other machines that each emitted seemingly never-ending papers overflooded with words. Surrounding the walls of the establishment were several screens, which Artemis nearly confused for windows due to the display of such high-resolution moving pictures. As if she couldn't be any more impressed, her eyes caught the attention of one particular screen randomly generating various "1's and 0's". She found it odd, until her eyes trailed along the wire connected to the screen and met its other end, where she found a machine that was carving and painting a line of what looked like...toys.

"Woah," Artemis gasped in awe, her eyes twinkling in marvel.

"It's impressive isn't it," the man chuckled beside her. He continued guiding her across the laboratory as Artemis still marveled around her in shock. "All this machinery works in succession to create the best possible life for my granddaughter. One day I hope it even creates a charitable life," he paused his sentence as he bent down and handed Artemis one of the toys, "for you."

Artemis looked in delight at the toy, which seemed to be looking back with its big black eyes. It was a little bird, painted gold and white. She giggled in delight at the adorable nature of it. In the midst of her joy, she noticed a knob on the side of the bird and tapped it to see what it might do. Upon no reaction, Artemis turned to the man with the blurry face before her, confused at the strange contraption. The man gently removed Artemis's fingers from the knob and twisted it, causing the bird to open its mouth and sing. Artemis squealed and laughed boisterously while the man beside her continued to observe her behavior.

"Grandfather," a soft feminine voice called out from the spaceship, "have you retur-" the voice cut off with a sudden gasp. Artemis looked towards the source of the voice. Although her face was also blurry, Artemis's vision was clear enough to make out the body of a little girl wearing a light pink dress.  Artemis gazed at the girl as the girl gazed back, both of them unmoving.

"Grandfather," the girl finally spoke up after what felt like an eternity, "what... is that?"

"This, my dear granddaughter, is an alien girl called Artemis. She will be integral in keeping your illness at bay while we find a definitive cure," the man elaborated. Artemis continued to stare curiously at the young girl.

The girl began walking towards Artemis as if she were some sort of dangerous object, her steps slow and calculated.

Suddenly, Artemis blurted out, "Pretty!"

The girl before Artemis stopped in her tracks.
"Oh!" she gasped, seemingly shocked by the outburst while the man to the side chuckled in amusement. "Why...thank you."

The girl knelt down towards Artemis, her head tilted sideways in curiosity. "So, your name is Artemis? That is a very lovely name...my name is  ⍓̸̶̛̝̩̲̹̗̘̠̘̩̆̇͊́͋̈͗́͗̐̿̑̓̚͜ͅ☈⟟̷̵̧̞̪̱̤̖̣͎͙̃̋͋͊̚̕͘͜͜." The girl held her pale hand out in greeting.

Artemis tilted her head at the hand, confused by the gesture. Finally, she just opted to hug the girl. After a few moments, the girl hugged her back, "Well aren't you sweet?"  the girl giggled in a soft manner.

The man to the side spoke up, "Artemis here has very special powers that could help you in your troubling situation, and I'm certain over time the two of you will become good friends."

Artemis, who was now being cradled, leaned against the chest of the young girl and burrowed her face into the fabric. "Soft," Artemis yawned, her eyes becoming droopy.

"You know what Grandfather? I think so too..."
