Gravity Falls, It's Good to be Back!

You sat sleepily in the back of a bus, heading a few towns over to work your summer job. You had been working at the Mystery Shack the past few summers to pay for your college courses. It didn't pay well, and it wasn't something you enjoyed, but something always kept you coming back. It had always been... weird to say the least. The people were all... interesting and you had always seen some strange things... only in Gravity Falls, of course.

You woke up right as the bus approached your stop. The familiar shabby shack came into view. It seemed every summer they tried to fix the fallen S on the roof, yet every time it would fall down again. You swung your backpack over your shoulder and hopped off the bus, walking toward the entrance of the Shack. You open the doors and take in the stale air, the overwhelming prices of the crappier than ever merchandise, and the 100%, totally real, mysteries, scattered about.

As soon as you stepped in the door, a familiar arm pulled you into a hug and gave you a six-fingered-noogie. The disheveled, yet somehow clean and neat man, greeted you. "Y/N! Great to see you back!"

You step back, giggling a bit while fixing your hair. "Thanks, Ford. Good to be back!" You scan the empty room. "Are the twins he-"

"Y/N!! You're back!!" yells the short, eccentric, colorful girl, as she pounces onto you, latching on in a hug. Behind her, follows the less enthusiastic, awkward brother, but you could tell he was still happy you were back. You had grown pretty close to everyone at the shack the past few years–maybe it's what stopped you from leaving.

"Hi, Mabel," you laugh, as you remove her from yourself, proving to be difficult, as she latched on like velcro, and setting her down, "still as energetic as ever I see!" Her face was beaming.

"Let's go put your stuff in your room! We should do makeovers!! Can I paint your nails??"

"Woah, woah, one at a time!" You laugh as Mabel pulls you by the arm, leading you to the guest room.

Dipper had made Mabel leave you to get settled, so you had just been sitting in bed, scrolling on your phone. There wasn't much to do to get settled in anyway, you only had a few outfits and some toiletries anyway. You figured if you needed anything else you could just borrow it, or go buy it.

You look forward to the next day. The Shack was never very busy, so you usually just goof off with Wendy and the twins. You were supposed to be doing sales pitches, or odd jobs, like sweeping and what-not, but the shop was practically the perfect tourist trap on its own, and who was really paying attention to how clean it was?

It was late, and you could feel yourself becoming weary. You settle down in bed, and begin to drift off.

Your dreams that night were bizarre. Ranging from old memories (mostly awkward ones..), to weird imagery, of an almost apocalyptic world. You could hear distant laughter, along with screams of agony. You kept waking up in cold sweats. You weren't one to have nightmares, let alone dream at night at all, so this was uncharacteristic. What could be happening? You brush it off as a one time thing, thinking nothing of it the next morning.
