Zuko was sleeping peacefully in his bed, his arms wrapped around his wife. Drawing soft circles in her growing stomach were their second child growing inside here every day. The first one was currently trying to climb on top of their bed and failing. His daughter's huffs of annoyance and frustration were what woke him up. He smiled and pretended to sleep, waiting to see what his little menace would do. They had been trying to get her to sleep in her own room, just in the next door. At first it had been challenging to all of them. In her birth there were many complications and both Zuko and Katara never wanted to leave their small angel out of their sight.  But she was old enough now to sleep on her own. Sometimes he woke up paralyzed with dread because he could feel her sleeping in his chest like she used to when she was little.

A weight landed on him harshly, startling him awake. A bundle of wild curls and deep blue eyes filled his sight. His heart did a ridiculous flip as he looked at his daughter that had obviously just woken up as she crawled on top of him and nestled her head in his chest, breathing out a sigh of relief and success. “ ‘Zumi, go to bed, it's too early.”

“No.” She said grumpily.

“Izumi, my love, my little phoenix, it's the weekend and we can sleep more.”

“I want to sleep here.” She said through a huge yawn and made grubby hands to him, wanting him to hug her as tightly as possible. How could he possibly deny her? His life has finally turned around. Yes he was still worrying that he would turn into his controlling unloving father but when he look at his girls his heart swelled and he had some hard times to believe that all of this was finally his.
