The Two Coronamons

Chapter 8

I wake up to the sound of footsteps on the cold stone. I rub the sleep away from the corners of my eyes and sit up. I see a red circle come near my face, recognizing it as a piece of fruit in a few moments. Coronamon smiles as He puts it in my lap.

"Eat up Derin! It's gonna be a long hard hike up this volcano!" He then stuffs his mouth full of food. Whispered eats quietly beside him, his hand on Coronamon's. I take a bite of the fruit. It has a sour start and a sweet aftertaste. I look over to see Shoutmon eating as well and Anubimon talking to him quietly. I could make out what they were saying.

After thirty minutes we started up the mountain. It was a long hike. Every summer I would go to camp for a week overnight. That camp was just hills and even more hills. My legs would feel like jelly every night because of how much inclined walking I had to do. Now imagine that but ten times, and I don't get fed grilled cheese! As we make our way up half of the volcano path, we take a quick twenty minute break then it's that horrible amount of walking again. As we make our way to the end of the walk, we all let out exhausted dramatic breaths. I ran up to the volcano's edge to see the dull lava inside.

"Be careful." Anubimon says, pulling me back by the shoulders.

"I see something, it's like a door on the inside wall." All five of us look down and they see the same things. Anubimon steps up to the edge, his wings expanding.

"There is a small ledge to stand on near it. I'll be back." Anubimon says as he flies down there cautiously. He goes to the door. "Pyramid Power." He exclaims as his foot turns golden with energy and he kicks the vault door. It cracks and after a few more kicks, there is a wide opening for us. He soars back up and grabs me by the sides and flies me down. I walk in a bit and wait for the others. Once they are there we go further down to see in front of us a giant white glowing ball. It has chains all over it. Shoutmon steps in front of us.

"That must be where Gravimon is. Poor guy." He shakes his head and starts to glow a golden light as he digivolve back into OmniShoutmon. "Stay back, I'll get it open. "Omni Torpedo!" He yells and is engulfed in a powerful energy that resembles another large white digimon. He charges straight at it and is able to break the chains off of it and crack the seal.

The sphere explodes and when the light fades, we see Gravimon again. Anubimon rushes in front as gravimon descends to the floor.

"My General!" Anubimon exclaims as he bows down on one knee to Gravimon. Gravimon stays silent. I look over to see Whispered and Coronamon, shocked expressions etched onto their faces.

"You never told us we were saving his skinny ass!" Whispered yells and huffs as he turns around.

"Hi Gravimon!" Coronamon squeals and goes up to him closer. "How are you? It must have been horrible there!" He asks, his green eyes booming with energy. Gravimon stays silent. I walked up to him.

"Gravimon, I did as you asked! It's great to finally meet you." I say. Gravimon stays silent. We all look at him in confusion. He finally lets out a low chuckle. After another moment after that my fusion loader glows as I look back to see Whispered glowing. He digivolves into Firamon and gets in front of us. OmniShoutmon gets behind Whispered too and grabs me and Coronamon. Anubimon's eyes widen as he sees the following, his form retreating too. Gravimon lets out another low chuckle. Whispered's snarl follows.

"That's not Gravimon..." Whispered spats out. Gravimon straightens himself.

"Of course I'm Gravimon, who else would I be?" He says with another louder laugh. "I must thank you Derin, quite kind of you for freeing me from that wretched prison." OmniShoutmon grunts.

"Whispered, get away from him and get these two to safety!" OmniShoutmon commands but Whispered stays put.

"No..." Whispered growls out as he slowly stalks his way to Gravimon. "I know it's you...don't be a coward now, show your face. Gravimon laughs grow harder as black smoke seems to creep in, making all of us frantic besides Whispered.

"Oh of course you know it's me! Who other than my own creation!" gravimon yells as the black smoke engulfs him. His form grows large, and more bulky. Out comes a knight like digimon with a golden helmet, yellow eyes, a following cape, and black and silver armor. He wields a giant two sided spear with a black bar in the middle for a handle. The other hand, a giant red ax.

"Axeknightmon!" Whispered yells as his body covers in flames and he flies up. "Flame Dive!" He yells and charges straight at him. Axeknightmon takes his spear and whacks Whispered away with ease. Whispered soars into a wall and comes crashing down to the floor. OmniShoutmon puts me and Coronamon down.

"Anubimon! Get them out of here and to safety!" He says as he steps in front of us. "Flame Cannon" He yells as two fire attacks come from his chest. Axeknightmon blocks them but is pushed back a bit. Whispered comes at him again.

"Fira Claw!" He yells but is hit back once more. Anubimon grabs onto me and Coronamon and flies out of the room and back out of the volcano. We stand near the entrance to the top. After several minutes, OmniShoutmon comes running out all battered and bruised with Whispered in his hands. He had reverted to his rookie form. Axeknigtmon came out and floated upwards.

"I have no use for you at the moment. I'll make my time more valuable." He says and lifts his ax. "Dimensional Ax!" He yells and is teleported away.

OmniShoutmon reverts back into Shoutmon and Whispered falls to the ground.

"Whispered!" Coronamon squeaks out emotionally and runs to his side. I hold up my fusion loader and he goes in to heal. Shoutmon stands next to me.

"We let a monster back into the world." He says coldly. I see Anubimon's confused and hurt face. It's like when you want to see a cousin you really love and it turns out they couldn't make the party or family reunion. I look towards the ground, clenching my fists.

'I'm sorry..." I say. Shoutmon puts his hand on my shoulder.

"It's not your fault kid. One, you wanted to do something good for a guy who wanted to seek redemption, and two, I didn't think twice. I should have had troops search the digiworld to see if Gravimon was actually already out there." He says sincerely and hugs me. "But now I feel like the proper thing to do is split ways. I need to go back to the castle so Axeknightmon doesn't try any funny business there. Derin, I want you and the others to go search the digital world and find the other six dark generals. We are going to need their power if we want to defeat Axeknightmon. Head to the other side of the volcano and start walking." Shoutmon says as he turns around.

"Will I see you again?" I ask, and Coronamon stands up.

"When the time is right." He says and starts walking away.

"Bye Shoutmon!" Me and Coronamon yell. Anubimon steps behind us as we watch Shoutmon fade into the distance.

"Let's get going. Hopefully I'll find the real Gravimon..." He drifts off. We all walked down the opposite way Shoutmon did, afternoon on its way. I look back once more and see the horrible mistake I made. We walk into the opposite deep forest and I hope for one good thing to happen...
