MINJEONG

Yizhuo is by me in my bed, she made the call to Ryujin thirty minutes ago to try to send an E-mail to my mom that looked like it was from her company, she said she would call once it was sent. She hasn't yet.

"I can't believe I left the door unlocked," I mumble, feeling her pinky brush against mines.

"We told you so many times, be aware," she says, closing her eyes.

"What did happen to all of you? clearly you've gone through changes," I say, turning my body so that I'm laying on my side, facing her.

I bring my hand up and place my thumb on her temple, pulling her hair up to see a small scar there.

"You didn't have this before," I mutter and she opens her eyes and looks at me, grabbing my wrist and holding my hands instead.

"It's permanent?" I ask.

She nods, "I got hit with the barrel of a gun," she answers and I place my hand over my mouth.

She smiles at my reaction, "It knocked me out, but when I woke up later, it ached for weeks I couldn't work with the girls," she answers, her thumb caressing the back of my hand.

"So, what'd you do instead?" I ask.

"Just not get into fights, I still went with them."

She lets go of my hand and a glare from her lip ring catches my eye.

"When'd you get this?" I ask.

"One of our gangs that we used to work with owned a tattoo shop, we stopped by them one week when we were on the run. While we were there, I asked for a lip ring since one of the girls at the tattoo shop had a lip piercing and I thought it looked good," she answers and all I've been doing is staring at her lips.

I bring my finger up and run my finger over the metal.

"You like it?" She mumbles, my finger still on her bottom lip.

"Mhm," I hum, mesmerized by the accessory, something I could never have imagined on her before.

"You know, Tzuyu got a brow piercing," she suddenly says and I widen my eyes.

"Wow, you guys really went all out." I smile.

I take my hand off her lips and run it once through her long, dark hair.

"You're a good drug dealer, you managed to keep it secret for five years."

"I did what I had to do," she says, her eyes growing sad by the reminder.

"I wish you trusted me, though."

"The girls didn't trust you, they didn't know you."

"But you did." I end and the phone suddenly starts to ring.

Both of us didn't react right away, just looking at each other with hurt looks for a few seconds before she sits up and answers it.

I stay laying down on the bed, turning back again and staring at the ceiling, fiddling with my fingers.

What would have happened if I figured it out before, before we were close, would they have threatened me to keep it a secret? Hurt me to keep it a secret? Left me and never spoke to me again?

"She sent it and she replied," Yizhuo says and I sit up beside her.

"She agreed?" I ask and she nods, I heave out a sigh of relief.

"Thank god," I say, looking around my room.

"Minjeong!?" I hear my mother call and I push Yizhuo off the bed.
