The chime indicating that Leevy had joined the video call caused Virginia to straighten in her seat. On the other side of the screen, Leevy leaned back in his office chair and asked, "Mission report?"
"Incomplete, but progressing steadily. The situation will be resolved within a day or two."
"Excellent. I have the next project I want you to oversee. Funnily enough, it regards another member of the high tax bracket: Justin Hammer. We're not sure what he's up to yet, but he has flown onto our radar enough recently for us to be wary. You'll find more information in the database. Be back in New York as soon as you can."
Virginia nodded and closed out of the meeting tab. She immediately logged into the unit's digital database. Under her profile, she found the file with all the information for the case. There were documents detailing unknown funds moving both in and out of Hammer Industries, a list of unusual materials being delivered to Hammer's warehouses, and a map monitoring his location over the past few days. Then a particular detail caught Virginia's eye:
MISSION: UNDERCOVER
Initiate contact with suspect. Maintain connection. Gain access.
She groaned. It was just her luck to have to interact with two hoity-toity billionaires within a week of each other.
Her gaze wandered around her hotel room as she reminded herself that she had given Stark an ultimatum. Whatever was to happen, it would be decided tomorrow. At least she knew one of the thorns in her side would be gone soon.
