Deidara POV

"Sasori no Danna~~~" I whined.

"What do you want now, brat?" I heard Sasori reply from ahead of me. Was it just me, or did he sound annoyed? It was probably just my imagination.

"I'm tired, un. Can we take a break?"

"We just took one five hours ago," he said sternly.

"Well I'm actually walking. I get tired while you sit inside that thing and slither around like a bug, un," I retaliated rather annoyed.

Sasori squinted his eyes at me and replied with disgust, "Thing? This is true art you bastard. Don't you dare insult my art style again."

Sasori's tone of voice made me cringe and I shut up immediately. "Why was he even so cruel? Can't he show a tad bit of hospitality to a new member?" I wondered.

We continued along the forest path for a while until Sasori came to a halt.

"Oi, brat."

"What's the matter, un?" I questioned and walked past Sasori.

"OI BRAT WATCH IT!" Sasori literally screamed behind me.

But it was too late. I had fallen into a hole. It was probably a set trap considering its size. Then it hit me. "Was Danna really screaming? So he isn't a monotonous bastard..." I thought rubbing the bump on my forehead.

"Danna!" I called up the opening. "A little help? Please?"

Sasori POV

I shook my head and face palmed inside my puppet, Hiruko. How could Pein possibly believe in this kid? He can't even spot a common hunting trap...

I heard him calling out to me from the bottom of the pit.

"So you survived the fall huh?" I mumbled.

"Deidara of the Hidden Stone: Kekkei genkai of explosion release and an infamous arsonist after becoming a missing nin." I recalled from the file Pein had given me. "He doesn't seem very formidable to me..." I thought.

"Un! You hear me Danna? Help a friend out, un! PLEASE!" I heard him cry.

I scoffed. Friend? What does he think I am? Why would someone of my class mix with a lowly peasant like himself? Albeit my attitude, I stepped out of Hiruko to survey the damage he's caused. "Damn him... This is gonna put a dent into our schedule..."

When I reached the pit, I looked down and frowned. It wasn't deep at all. Seven feet at most; any shinobi should be able to jump that high. "Can't you get out yourself?" I drawled.

"I think I hurt my leg, un," he replied scratching the back of his head.

"Bastard... What am I supposed to do now?"

That's when I remembered my bet with Itachi. "If he dies in that hole, then I win that bet..." I said with a grin. "I don't need to save him... I can leave him here and tell Leader-Sama that I lost him during the mission..." I plotted.

"Danna?" Deidara called bringing me out of my thoughts. "Please?"

"Oi, brat. Don't make puppy dog eyes at me. You're grossing me out," I called and glared down at him.

Pathetic. That's the only term for describing someone like him.

I was about to leave but something drew me back to the hole. What is this feeling?

"Fine," I replied to Deidara. "But only on one condition will I help you."

"WHAT?!?! AREN'T WE A TEAM?! WHY DO WE NEED CONDITIONS?!?!"

"You want my help or not?"

"Fine. What is it, un?"

I sighed at myself. I'm getting too soft. "You don't complain for the rest of the mission and I'll help you out. Deal?" I offered raising an eyebrow.

Deidara sat there and thought for a while. "Fine. Just get me out of here, un!"

Sighing again, I kneeled down next to the hole and extended a hand to him. He grabbed on and was climbing out when I felt something warm and wet against my palm.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" I screamed in disgust and threw him back into the hole.

The blond smirked and rubbed the newly formed bump on his head. "Gotcha Danna!" he snickered showing me the mouths on his hand.

Gross.

"Brat, don't go pulling pranks on me. You'll regret it," I said whilst turning away.

"Awe don't be such a bum, un. Have fun once in a while."

"As long as you're not near my presence, I'd consider it fun."

"Ouch, un. You're so cold Danna. But alright, no more pranks, un."

I rolled my eyes and extended a helping hand once more. "Grab on, brat."

"Thanks Danna!" he said with a genuine smile as he clambered out of the pit.

I turned my head away from him and gripped the grass from where I sat. It has been a long time since I helped someone like him... "What's this feeling in my chest?" I mumbled inaudibly.

"What was that, Danna? I didn't hear it properly."

"It's nothing," I replied quickly trying to push away the thoughts I just had. "We're already behind schedule. Let's get going and finish the mission."

"But Dannaaaaa~~~" the blond whined.

"What now?" I growled.

Deidara avoided eye contact and played with the sleeve of his cloak uncomfortably and pointed at his left foot. I lifted his cloak to reveal a swollen ankle. "You gotta be fucking kidding me," I grumbled rolling my eyes.

Deidara glanced at me with his sapphire blue eyes. "Danna, can we have a break? Just a really short one..." he mustered.

"Fifteen minutes. That's it," I replied crossing my arms across my chest.

I walked a little ways away and stared at the clouds.

Why does he always get his way with me? And what is this feeling in my chest?

I put my hand to the spot where my "heart" was located and sighed. This is going to be one long mission.
