Narrator POV

"Stop it," Sasori grumbled. "Why can't you just stop?"

He slammed the puppet arm he was working on onto the wooden desk. The sound echoed in the empty chamber, and as it died down, Sasori regained his composure and clenched his fist.

"I can't work like this..." Covering his face with his hands, he tilted his head towards the ceiling. "I can't work with him always on my mind..."

Grabbing his cloak, he headed out of his room, not bothering to get into Hiruko. The puppet master walked silently down the eerie corridors and performed the hand seals to open the exit. Stepping into the cool night air, he stood motionlessly and watched as his bangs danced to and fro in the wind.

"How carefree one's world can be
Silently passing without a word.
No guilt residing within thy sheath
Lies left unspoken and never heard."

He walked a little ways away and came upon a still pond of silvery water, reflecting the full moon's beams. Taking a seat next to the reflected sky, he closed his eyes and pondered. "How easy it would've been if I hadn't met him."

"If you hadn't met who, hm?"

The voice caught him off guard as he sprung to his feet and into fighting stance.

"Woah, un. Calm down, it's just me."

"Brat. You could've given me a warning," Sasori sneered at the arsonist.

"The usual Sasori would've sensed me miles away. You aren't your usual self, is something the matter?" Deidara inquired as he crouched next to the pond and checked himself out.

Frowning at his partner's vanity, Sasori took a seat himself and stared at his reflection next to the blond's. The surface of the pond shimmered as little waves danced upon the surface. Turning his head, Sasori noticed that Deidara was staring into the distance with his ocean blue eyes, a dreamy look painted on his visage. The puppeteer's stony face softened as he continued to glance at the majestic blond.

"Like what you're seeing?" the bomber smirked.

"Not a chance," Sasori replied with a twinge of embarrassment which the latter failed to notice.

"Hmph. Anyways, can I ask you a question, Danna?"

"Even if I refused, you'd still pester me. So ask away," the redhead stated monotonously whilst avoiding eye contact.

Deidara mumbled something inaudible but proceeded to ask his question, "So.... Um... I was wondering... Do you have any weaknesses?"

Sasori frowned and tried to discern his partner's sudden curiosity. Narrowing his eyes, Sasori attempted to read Deidara's face in the pale moonlight, but all he saw was innocence and curiosity. After a brief pause, the puppeteer came upon an answer. "Puppets have several weaknesses, but I myself have none."

"Cocky little bastard, un," Deidara mumbled under his breath.

Sasori's frown deepened. "What was that?"

"Nuthin', hm," Deidara nodded nervously, hoping that the redhead hadn't caught ear of what he said.

Losing interest in the petty conversation, Sasori turned away and continued to stare into the horizon of silhouetted trees against the velvety navy sky which was dotted with small glimmering lights.

"The stars are eternal, so why aren't I?"

After a peaceful silence, Deidara let out a loud yawn.

"Annoying brat," Sasori thought in his head.

Ignoring the latter's sleepy outburst, Sasori continued to stare into the distance, deep in thought about his internal dilemma. Quiet snores sounded from where Deidara now laid. Sighing, the redhead slipped off his cloak and wrapped it around the younger man's figure while propping the blond's body against his own and wrapping his slender arm around his frame. To Sasori, this position felt right.

He looked down at the slumbering teen as a rare faint smile crept onto his face.

"Deidara, you are my weakness. And I am your puppet."
