Samantha's POV"Your honour that can not be entered into evidence. As it states that Mr. Booker provoked his son into saying those things, he even admitted to it," Jeffrey objected.
It was overruled and the judge ordered a 15 minutes lunch break.
I went outside and I checked my phone, I had two missed calls from Nick, one from my mother and a message that I didn't wish to open.
My anxiety was maxed with this case. I can't help to think that the Judge was working with Jesse's father but I dare not say that shit out loud to my team.
My phone rang and it was Nick again and I declined the call. I wasn't in the mood for a conversation with anyone right now.
We were standing outside and I saw Jesse standing by himself so I decided to go talk to him for the very first time.
"Hi, are you ok? Well I know you're not ok but—"
I'm fine,” he interjected and gave me a faint smile.
"I'm Samantha by the way," I said.
“I know, you are alway quiet, didn't even know you could talk," he said.
Pity he doesn't know that sometimes I talk too much.
"Yeah, that's me," I said.
"A hell of a case huh? Bet you wish you had picked another career path."
I really wish I did. I could have been a fine ass model or on Instagram unboxing free shit, but no I wanted a career in law.
Fucking nuff.
"Sometimes, but it might get better, well hope so," I said.
"You know what Samantha? I appreciate everything your team is doing for me but I can't help but to give up, "he said.
This broke my heart to see an innocent young man suffer just because of the evil doings of his father over money."You can't give up so easily Jesse, we will do everything we can to prove your innocence. You have to help us also and if you give up then we are all going to fail.”
He looked at me and I could see the tears in his eyes.
"My mother didn't deserve this. All she wanted was a peaceful life Samantha, just peace she wanted and all of that was taken from her." This was so heart wrenching to hear.
He pulled a piece of tissue from his pocket and wiped his eyes.
"Look Jesse we will fight to the end to get Justice for you and your mom, I promise you that" I said to him as I touched him shoulder.
All I had was reassurance for him because I myself was losing hope in this fucking case.
"Thank you Samantha, I appreciate it,” He said.
Jeffrey waved to me and that meant it was time for us to go back inside.
"They are ready for us."
We went back into court and it was the same with the Judge, she was on the Father's side it seemed.
Nick's POV
I took a swim to clear my mind, then started to help my mother in her garden which always brings me some kind of peace.
"I'm planting Roses today, Nicholas, you can pick them in a couple months for me since your father won't buy me flowers," She said.
I laughed because she didn't want any damn flowers. This was a new hobby for her and a new way to annoy her husband.
