Samantha's POV

Crissy's Chat

Crissy: Chany told me that she texted you. I'm sorry I didn't mean to mix you.

Me: Look I don't care. Just leave me alone.

Closed Chat

I was already having a bad day. My boss told me that I had sat in on a court case and I wasn't even prepared for it and I could not tell him that I didn't have notes for such a huge case.

My friends seem to think that life was a party. I told Crissy I wasn't going to Chany's party because she keeps one every month so it wasn't supposed to be a big deal if I didn't go to this one.

Even though it was her birthday, I still didn't want to go.

"Samantha, do you still have the notes on the Booker case?" Kaylee asked.

She was an intern like myself and we had to lean on each other for work support because I swear these lawyers threw all their workload on us.

"Yes I did file it. This case is so sad, I feel like he is innocent" I said.

The Booker case was really twisted. A 21 year old accused of killing his mother, no evidence to say he did but his father said he did and now my law firm has his case.

"He is innocent, I think the dad is framing him and because he has big links he is trying to pin his son as a troubled, spoiled rich kid who was too entitled" Kaylee said.

We weren't' allowed to discuss the care so freely but we were alone and we were entitled to our opinions in private. I felt so sorry for the guy. Money was really the root of all evil.

"Here are the notes. You have court today?" I asked.

"No, thank God. I'm just going to run through these, then head to lunch. Oh and I'm having drinks later. You wanna come?" She asked.

I wasn't in the mood to have drinks on a weekday.

"Thanks but I have some studying to do plus I'm having an off day. I almost hit a guy this morning and I had to give him my number to get rid of him."

She found it funny. "Well at least you didn't have to go to the hospital with him."

That's true. The way he was behaving I expected him to text me already. Why was I looking forward to a text from him?

"True. I am going to pass these on to Miss Simmonds so I will see you tomorrow." She said.

"Tomorrow."

I had lunch by myself then finished up what I was doing in the office. I left the office before five so I could beat the traffic.

When I got to the scheme I made sure not to drive the same way I did this morning. took the longer route.

My father was home when I got there and he had company, a black car was parked at the gate blocking me from driving inside. I was so upset I got out of the car and stormed into the house.

"Daddy, who parked into the gate? I need to drive in."

I didn't even see him nor did I care who he was with. I walked into the living room and saw a girl sitting on the couch. This must be one of his new flings.

"Hey, Samantha, I'm Terry, your dad is on a call in the next room" She said.

"Hi. You are parked at the gate," I said to her hoping she heard how annoyed I was.

"Oh I'm sorry, I will go move the car."

I could easily tell that she was young. She dressed nicely plus she was cute. My father loved young gyal. No wonder he and my mother couldn't gree.
