The days that follow are some of the most dreadful Hazel has ever had. That says something, because she grew up with Dorian and Aurelia Vellichor, and if they were shitty, this is catastrophic. She usually can't afford new hobbies, but if she's spending all her time researching and worrying, it's bound to get to her at some point. Mr. Sato keeps on saying she's much shakier these days, she gives credit to the cortisol that she's sure her body is overflowing with. She also started watching sports, it's a way she still gets to connect with Maple, even while they're practically two worlds apart, and now that she thinks about it. Ken Sato really isn't that bad. He's doing great, and makes the Giants absolutely shine. And with some consideration, Hazel's willing to believe he might be Ultraman, which he probably is, but sometimes she still finds herself doubting it. But with every day that passes, her doubts perish a bit more. One by one.
She looks at his number quite a bit, she's told Maple about it, but her best friend is being a dumbass again, and all she can offer for words of advice are 'just text him!'
Hazel does not in fact want to do that. They've met, once. Well, it could've been two, she realised, but it doesn't matter. It's so random. Imagine ringing up that one baseball player you had one interview with.
"That also happened to give you his number," Maple says, again. Hazel wants to reach through the screen and strangle her best friend. Maple says she needs to get out, spend time with people that aren't Mr. Sato, or Ami.
