Foolish came back that evening looking deflated. He dragged his feet to the bedroom to see his boyfriends.
"You're home!" Bad bounced up.
"You got my texts, right?" Foolish asked.
"I did, is everything okay?"
"Yeah..."
"Yeah?" Bad put his hand on Skeppy's back. He wasn't asleep but he was laying down with his eyes closed. "This one has a migraine again."
"Oh damn, that sucks."
Bad leaned over and sprinkled a couple kisses along Skeppy's cheek. "I got him an appointment for next Monday. To see if there's anything going on we should be worried about."
"It's probably nothing, but we might as well make sure." Foolish sat on Bad's desk chair. "We don't want a guy that hot to go to waste."
Bad rolled his eyes. "So you managed okay with the kids?"
"It was really only one kid most of the day."
"Yeah...well it's nice that you agreed to go out of your way."
"Yeah...I feel a little sad now though."
"Why?"
Foolish started playing with Bad's pens. "She's a funny kid. Even with a concussion she was entertaining. We were chilling for a couple hours waiting for the doctor. When it was time for us to split up and leave, I think she was upset...I don't know. Maybe it's a bit pretentious to think she would miss me, she just met me. But I felt like I was abandoning her, the way she looked at me when I walked away."
"Aww...well I'm sure she's just a little sad to see anyone go. Those kids have been abandoned a lot. Some of them may see everyone as just passing through, never to be seen again."
"I'm a bit sad too...she won't be at the sports week now because she needs to rest. I wish I could see her again, wish I could do a lot more for her."
Bad cleared his throat. "It sounds like you picked a favorite."
"Well...I just got to know her more because I had to go to the hospital with her."
"Those other kids need help too, so you can still look forward to helping them."
"Why is having a favorite so wrong? You have a favorite."
"A favorite what?"
Foolish looked at Skeppy.
"I do not." Bad whispered. Not sure if it were true or not. "You're both my favorites. I just have been with Skeppy longer."
"Yeah..."
"Shut up." Skeppy grumbled. "I want to go to sleep."
Foolish stood up. "Okay jeez, I'm going to go get something to eat."
"I'm hungry too." Bad checked the time. "It's not that late...do you want to go over to the restaurant across the street? I'm not in the mood for anything we have here."
"Mmm, okay." Foolish grinned. "You asked, you pay."
"I will." Bad stretched. "My aunt sent me some money today."
"Oh?"
Bad laughed. "Yeah she has a little problem with gambling... She buys those little scratch tickets. If she wins a decent amount she's always given it to me. She says she's afraid what she'd bet that money on."
"Are we millionaires now then?"
"No, but I can afford dinner." Bad smiled. "Let's get ready and let the poor muffinhead sleep." Bad turned off the lamp by the bed and nudged Skeppy. "Do you want food brought back, darling?"
