In the Konoha forest:

"This is no mission Kakashi sensei! This is just someone else's work put on our shoulder." Sasuke said irritably in the earpiece, Kakashi could physically feel their irritation about the D-rank missions, but he could not do anything about it, "I know, I know, but you have to put up with it for a while. If you do, I might request a C-rank mission next time." He said to the relief of his Genin. Today's mission was no exception to the 'chore' rule for D-ranks; there's this lady whose cat keeps going missing almost every other day and a new Genin team is assigned to bring it back. Today was their turn, the fifth time they had this mission this month.

"I have been crouched on this branch of this exact tree, for 2 HOURS!" Naruto hissed too, Kakashi sweat dropped, 'This is tiring for me too, takes too long and there's basically no payment worth doing this mission.' He thought, remembering the times when he was a Genin and had to go on this exact same mission ten times before Minato agreed upon a C-rank mission, even though a war was going on at that time. He let out a chuckle, which ended up scaring the cat and it ran away, "WHO THE FUCK WAS IT!" Hinata screamed in the earpiece scaring Kakashi and the two boys, "It was me, just wait, I am done here myself," Kakashi said and in an instant, he was behind the cat, grabbing it by the scruff of its neck, he knocked it out. "It's over, you guys can come down; we are heading out from here." The three sighed in relief.

At the lady's house, "Oh my! Thanks for bringing her back!" the lady exclaimed, hugging the poor cat to death, "Here's your payment!" she said handing them 50 Ryo, which is the cost of a single D-rank mission. Hinata simply gave the lady a nasty look and left with the others, 'That poor cat, if the lady keeps hugging it like that, it will die of asphyxiation before any natural causes.' Hinata thought.

A few minutes later they were in the mission hall, "The D-rank is done, next mission please." Kakashi said, "Another D-rank, how about the Inuzu-" "NO! For the love of God, please no!" Naruto interrupted Hiruzen, he looked up irked, "What do you mean no? You don't decide the missions you go on kid, not yet at least." Hiruzen said, going through a file of D-ranks, "Well he doesn't, but I do. Request for a C-rank mission Hokage Sama." Kakashi requested the old man, Hiruzen looked even more annoyed than before, but he was interrupted by a Jonin, who handed him a scroll.

Hiruzen analyzed the scroll and looked up at Kakashi, then back at the scroll and then at Naruto, Hinata and Sasuke, sighing he said, "Not a C-rank, but an A-rank mission which was bumped up from C to A. it's Kurenai's team, they encountered Zabuza Momochi, Demon of the hidden mist. It seems that the guy lied, but the team refused to leave and asked for a backup. The only reason I will allow you guys to go is Kakashi, so consider yourself lucky. Here's the scroll that has the details." He concluded giving the scroll to Kakashi. The Genin were excited to go on a different mission, finally they could step foot outside of Konoha and the forest.

"Well kids, prepare for a different kind of mission, I will keep guiding you about the big things and the small things, pack just about what you would need, try to keep it as compact as it can be but, do not forget anything important." Kakashi said once they were outside, "We are leaving in about 3 hours, meet at the east gate in about two and a half hours. I will explain why so quick later, now go" he said and everyone went their way to pack things up.

In about two and half hours, Hinata, Naruto arrived, Sasuke was already there but there was no sign of Kakashi there, "So we have to wait about at least half an hour for him?" Naruto asked, "Yeah I guess." Sasuke replied.

"You practice kenjutsu?" Naruto asked sasuke pointing at the katana he brought, "Yeah, I do." He replied, "Can I have a look at it?" he asked, "Do, but be careful." Sasuke said giving him the sword, Naruto nodded and carefully unsheathed the katana, a fiery pattern on the blade itself, its Saya was black and its Tsuba was purple, Naruto was surprised at its quality, but when he ran his finger around its edge, he noticed something, "Wait... why's the edge chipped?" he asked, "What do you mean chipped? I see no chips." Sasuke said confused, "I don't see the chips too, but I can feel them on my finger." He replied, "ok, yeah that, actually this sword is about 60 to 70 years old. My clan gradually stopped the use of katana in battle since the warring states period, I wanted to honor those of the warring states. I found it effective to restore this one and sharpen it." Sasuke said, Naruto was impressed, "Call me impressed, if this breaks, I have quite a few lying there, collecting dust." Naruto said, "Yeah, if this breaks, I will ask for one" he said.
