When I reach out, you're still the one I want to find

When I reach out, you're still the one I want to find
It was no use to fight, I had to let you go
A part of me went with you
A part of me that is forever yours

Neither of us knew better, despite how much I wish I did
The chance to redeem myself gone for good
Never got the chance to show I would be better, that I am better
Yet a part of me is still bitter that you let us wither

What I asked was never meant so literal, nothing was that fixed
I tried to explain, that's all it was
But I guess in the end the right words just never came

We could've looked for a way to work
Together
My shoulders would've been strong enough for both of us
Forever

I wouldn't have minded
Now? Now I only got blindsighted
For where I tried to explain my side
You decide that for yours, silence was better

An old poem I found hidden in the back of a notebook after going through a rough heartbreak. I think it's finally time for it to see the light of day after finding it again.
