The first rays of sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room. I stirred in bed, feeling the warmth of Logan beside me, his arm draped protectively over my waist. For a moment, I allowed myself to savor the peace of the morning, the steady rise and fall of his chest against my back, the way his presence grounded me in a way nothing else could. But as much as I wanted to stay wrapped up in this cocoon of comfort, reality was quick to intrude.

The events of the previous day came rushing back-Erik's behavior, the looming danger that hung over us like a dark cloud. I knew we couldn't afford to stay in this bubble for long. There was too much at stake. I gently shifted, turning to face Logan. His eyes were still closed, but I could tell he was awake by the way his grip on me tightened slightly, as if he didn't want to let go.

"Good morning," I whispered, brushing a strand of hair away from his face. His eyes fluttered open, a sleepy smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Morning, Bub," he murmured, his voice still rough with sleep. He leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead, and for a brief moment, I allowed myself to get lost in the warmth of his affection. But the weight of what lay ahead was impossible to ignore. I sighed softly, resting my head against his chest.

"We can't stay here forever, can we?"Logan's hand stroked my back in soothing circles, but there was a tension in his muscles that told me he was thinking the same thing. "No, we can't," he admitted, his voice tinged with reluctance.

"But we'll take this one step at a time. We'll figure it out."I nodded, drawing strength from his words. "We'll deal with Erik, and then... we can finally be together in peace." He kissed the top of my head, his voice filled with determination. "We will. I promise you that."

After a few more moments of quiet, we finally got out of bed and started getting ready for the day. The mansion was still quiet, most of the team likely still asleep or just starting to stir and the older kids where taken to the mountains for a field trip by Peter, storm and alongside Laura, which I was eager to see and apologize.

Logans quickly got dressed while I flicked my wrist to change my clothes into something appropriate. "Wow thats... new", he says in a shock manner. I looked up with a smirk. "Yeah, I'm sill getting used to these new powers myself." He nodded in awe and we walked out the door holding his hand as we walked to the kitchen.

When we finally made our way to the kitchen, we found Hank already there, sipping his morning coffee while reading through a stack of papers. He looked up as we entered, giving us a small nod of acknowledgment.

"Morning," he greeted, his tone neutral but friendly.

"Good morning, Hank," I replied, trying to muster a smile despite the weight on my shoulders. "Any updates?"

Hank set his coffee down, a serious expression crossing his features. "Nothing significant yet, but I've been monitoring the situation closely. We're preparing for all contingencies, just in case Erik decides to make a move."

Logan pulled out a chair for me before taking a seat across from Hank. "Good. We need to be ready for anything."

Hank nodded in agreement. "We'll need to strategize with the rest of the team once they're up. But I have to ask, Violet-are you feeling ready for this? I know you've been through a lot."

I appreciated the concern in Hank's voice, but I also knew that this wasn't the time for hesitation. "I'm ready," I said firmly.

Hank gave me a reassuring smile. "That's good to hear. We're all in this together, and we'll do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe."

As we continued discussing the plans for the day, Scott and Charles joined us in the kitchen, their expressions mirroring the seriousness of the situation. The weight of the impending confrontation with Erik was palpable, and I could feel the tension growing among us as we prepared for what might come.
