I sit up on my bed and stretch my arms. I was nearly blinded by the sun's rays because the curtains were up. Why do they keep entering my room to pull up the curtains? I told the maids to stop doing that, I practically begged them.
Anyway, I got up from the bed. Thankfully, I wasn't caught up in the sheets again. I wonder how this miracle happened. I quickly freshen up and dress. I'm so bored in this house and I'm practically lonely. It sucks.
At least I had my parents to torment me while I was back at their house, but now everyone just minds their business. My parents haven't even called to check up on me. How typical of them.
Irene is out of the country again and this time she's actually busy since she decided to take up her family business.
I really wanted to find a job. To be a junior under an expertise lawyer and handle cases till I'm a senior, but I want to discuss it with Leo first. I thought we would do that over dinner, but he bailed on me. Well, maybe I'm overreacting because he didn't say for sure if he'd be home or not. But again, he could have texted. That is if he even has my contact since he wants nothing to do with me.
I head downstairs to the kitchen hoping to find Valentino there so we could chat a bit before he leaves me to eat breakfast alone. Upon reaching the kitchen, I hear laughter so I quicken my steps only to find Leo sitting on the high stools helping Valentino make breakfast.
I don't even know if Leo ate the food I made for him. I will never know till I ask.
Valentino notices me and waves. Seems like I've been staring at them like an idiot. Ugh! I walk towards them and sit on one of the high stools a little far from where Leo sat.
"Good morning, Arya, hope you slept well," Valentino says shooting me a smile. He was actually really nice and funny.
"Yeah, I actually did," I say shooting him a smile back.
"No tangled sheets, huh?" He asks chuckling and I laugh.
Leo was silent and just concentrated on the fruit juice he was making. I decided to start a little conversation since Valentino went to get something. It was just us.
"No work today?" I ask eating the grapes on the tray.
"No work today," he says not even glancing at me.
"You came home late yesterday, right?" I ask.
"Mhmm," He replies.
Okay, crap! This chat is surely not going to get anywhere. He clearly doesn't want to talk to me and it's like I'm trying in vain. Can't we at least be friends? I'm not giving up just yet.
"Did it taste good?" I ask hoping he actually ate the food I made for him.
"What?"
"The food I made for you," I say and he doesn't respond. "It's okay if you didn't, maybe you weren't hungry. I'm sure the maids poured it out and cleared the table so--"
"I ate it," He cut me off, "It was delicious," he adds and finally looks at me. His look made me feel weak. I wanted him to look at me, but not in the way he is right now.
"Thank you for making it for me," He says and starts setting the table for breakfast.
I clear my throat,"It's nothing," And join him the set the table.
Valentino appears and makes some bacon. After that, he left and it was just the two of us again. I finally had someone to eat with, but it still felt lonely.
The sound of our cutlery hitting the plates were the only thing that filled the loud silence and tension in the room. This is so weird and uncomfortable.
