"Nice to see you, Guinevere Baroque. I believe the last time we have seen each other was long ago ," Gusion said, faking seriousness.

"Drop the formalities, we are friends," Guinevere laughed, playing along. She could not believe that she met her friend this way. It was odd that he came from the woods but its even crazier the guards gave up on the chase after a short while.

"I was banished from the Paxley family because they found out that I use those daggers." Gusion's eyes shone fiercely, as if he could read Guinevere's mind. " The guards probably had to report back to your father as it was already night."

"Thanks, Gusion. You're the best, I couldn't have escaped without you..."

"Aw, your auburn hair had grown longer, " Gusion teased, attempting to change the topic to lighten the mood.

Damn. The first time she met her childhood friend and the first thing he talks about is her hair? Guinevere looked up and for the first time, she felt small. Gusion had obviously grown a lot taller than before and her height barely reached his shoulder.

When has he grown this tall? Guinevere blushed and looked away. Stop it, Guinevere! He's just a close friend!

Frowning, Guinevere tried to stand up but stumbled. She almost fell again but Gusion catched her right on time, so Guinevere fell right into his lap. Oh my god. Guinevere felt her face burning as she mumbled a quick apology, her ears turning bright red.

"I think your leg still has wounds but I cleaned them for you when you passed out yesterday. You need to see a medic, though. You are lucky I have quick reflexes or else you would have fall down again," Gusion winked at her.

Lowering himself to examine Guinevere's knee, Gusion cleaned her wound once again. Only then did Guinevere realised that her knee was well-bandaged.

"Where did you learn this first-aid ?" Guinevere asked in amazement.

"Oh, Aamon taught me about this a few weeks back," Gusion said casually, but his eyes still dimmed at the mention of his brother.

"So you were banished from the Paxleys?" Guinevere could not help herself but ask this paricular question.

Gusion immediately stopped what he was doing and his expression became cold. Guinevere realised what she had said and immediately covered her mouth.

"I'm really sorry for asking-"

"It's fine. Yes, I was banished, but they still wanted to find me to be kept in a cell back there." Gusion's usually kind eyes became dark.

" They wanted to lock me up because I refuse to learn magic, but I managed to escape. To prevent the news from getting out, my father announced that I was banished from the family. Aamon was the only one who really understood me and he would be a good king."

Guinevere gulped. "Gusion, Aamon would only become king if I marry him... I'm really sorry..." Guinevere had a sudden flashblack when the Paxley family visited. To be honest, Aamon did seemed like a great guy.

Guinevere flinched. She was afraid that Gusion would hold a grudge against her and side with his brother if he found out that she did not make Aamon the King. Gusion sighed and said, " It's your choice, Guin, and I'm sure Aamon won't blame you either."

Guinever nodded slightly, her leg still in pain.

They sat back in silence and watched the sun rises together, their hearts beating in harmony. Both were thinking of the same thing. What would happen if they get found?
