It was a peaceful evening, but that didn't stop Y/n from taking her book and sitting by the black lake, enjoying the cold breeze that was passing by, making her cheeks rosy from the cold. She enjoyed the cold.

She was so lost in her imagination that she didn't notice that someone was sitting beside her, waiting for her to turn around and look at him.

After a while, she looked up and saw the blonde looking into the black lake with a calm yet nervous expression on his face..

"Yes?" She inquired, eager to find out what he was doing with her.

"Oh hey, I didn't want to disturb you"

That caught her off guard, but she dismissed it.

"Is there anything I can do for you, Malfoy?" she asked, looking into his grey eyes.

"I'd like to ask a question."

"Okay, ask right away."

"WouldyouliketogototheYuleballwithme?" he asked quickly, making it difficult for the girl to understand.

"I'm sorry I didn't understand what you said," she admitted truthfully.

Malfoy repeated himself, his heart racing, "Would you like to go to the Yule ball with me?" He looked into her e/c eyes and became lost in them.

"But if someone has already asked you, that's fine; you're probably not going to want to come with me anyway, because a lot of boys have-" he continued to rant, but Y/n interrupted him.

Never in a million years would she have expected Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin prince, to want her as his date.

"Uh- yes, Dr- Malfoy, I'd love to go with you"

"Really?" he asked, his eyes widening at her response.

"Yes of course, why wouldn't I?"

"Well, I thought you would like to go with someone else-" he said, scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"Draco," she stared, watching his eyes widen at the mention of his first name. "I know you're not the guy you portray in school. Believe it or not, I've seen you without the mask you always wear in front of others. So never doubt yourself about something you truly want. Seize the opportunity no matter what. I'm glad you asked, because I know that beneath the cold, mean boy lies one who is kind and generous. I've seen you smile when you let your guard down, when you're with your friends, and I'm not talking about Grab and Goyle," she said with a chuckle.

"So you've been watching me," he enquired, his cocky smirk now on display.

"That's the Draco the school knows," she remarked, laughing. "You could say that, but I'd go further than just observing you. As creepy as it sounds, I enjoy observing my surroundings, both people and nature; it fascinates me and, in some ways, calms me down," she said, looking at him with a gentle smile on her lips.

"If you ever want to talk to someone, rant, or whatever, I'll be here," she said, kissing him on the cheek, taking her book, and leaving to return to the castle.

Draco was once again left speechless. He was proud of himself for gathering the courage and went to ask her to be his date, and he was more excited than ever to attend the ball with the girl he had a crush on for years.

"Woah, mate, you got your girl dream," Mattheo exclaimed from behind the tree, staring at Draco.
