heartfyre soared through the sky, its wings cutting through the air with powerful, rhythmic beats. zaephyr sat on its back, her hands gripping the reins tightly. the wind rushed past her, whipping her hair back from her face.

they had been flying for some time now, and zaephyr's eyes scanned the landscape far below them. the world looked small from this height, a vast sea of green and brown with glimpses of silver where rivers ran through the land.

her gaze shifted to heartfyre, who was gliding effortlessly through the air, his smooth scales rippling in the sunlight.

feeling the cool breeze caress in her face as they hovered in the sky. the clouds looked like puffs of white cotton, drifting lazily across the blue backdrop.

she laid down and closed her eyes and let herself go, her mind drifting into a semi-meditative state. the sensation of flying on heartfyre was so liberating and soothing, it was as if nothing else in the world mattered.

zaephyr's moment of tranquility was interrupted. she sat up on heartfyre's back, her eyes meeting her hands. "shit, i'm going to be late for my lesson." she had completely lost track of time while flying with heartfyre.

she patted her dragon affectionately, signaling it that it was time to head back."īlon emagon naejot jikagon. nyke kostagon daor sagon late, daor arlĩ." she said to heartfyre, her voice edged with slight worry. we have to go. i can not be late, not again.

"they are going to kill me." she mumbled.

the dragon seemed to understand her tone and words, for the dragon let out a small, almost understanding grunt before turning to start its descent. zaephyr gripped tighter at the reins, her mind now filled with the thought of being late for her high valiryan lesson.

heartfyre's wings flapped silently as they glided towards the ground. as they got nearer to the dragon pit. she dismounted from her dragon.

"umbagon... nyke kivio īlon'll jikagon syt another kipagon aderī, valonqar." stay... i promise we'll go for another ride soon, boy.

in fact, she didn't need those lessons anymore, she just didn't want the maester or (mostly) rhaenyra to be upset with her for constantly absent.

she could hear some muffled voices from the main hall as she entered cautiously. the scent of dragons clinging to her clothes, adding to her disheveled appearance.

"i don't expect you to learn high valyrian in a day, jace."

"a king should honor the traditions of his forbears."

"zaephyr... late— again." the maester remarked, his voice filled with a tinge of slight irritation.

zaephyr winced as she heard the maester's voice. she knew she had screwed up again, but she couldn't help it that her dragon flying sessions always went beyond the desired time.

she walked in further,"my apologies, maester." zaephyr said with a contrite tone. "i—i lost track of time..." she quickly glanced at jacaerys and gave him a slight smile.

her gaze drifted to jacaerys, and she offered him a small smile before looking to rhaenyra, who nodded at her. she turned back to jacaerys. "well... unless you're planning to depose your own mother you have plenty of to study." she paused. "and perhaps zaephyr could help you with it."

jacaerys nodded to his mother, looking up at zaephyr. "i suppose she could." he said quietly. his eyes lingered on hers for a few moments before he looked down at the table again.

"yes... of course." zaephyr responded, slightly hesitating.

just as the conversation continued, the doors opened and daemon walked in, his presence immediately drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
