Later That Evening
"Dear Lord, please forgive me for what I am about to do." Jelissa whisper to herself, walking out of the kitchen and sees her mother Loretta singing gospel music from YouTube while wiping her coffee table.
Every praise (is to our God) is to our God
Every word of worship (every word of worship)
With one accord (with one accord)
Every praise (every praise)
Every praise (every praise)
Is to our God (is to our God)
"Yes, won't you do it Lord?" She said to herself, continuing singing along.
Jelissa sighed lowly to herself. "You can do this Lulu, you can do this." She whisper again and steps out of the kitchen fully. "Mama" She said softly, feeling nervous.
Loretta stops singing and put the volume down using her TV remote. "Hey there sugar foot, is the kitchen clean?"
"Yes mama." Jelissa answer with a force smile.
"That's my baby girl, Lord I am so blessed and thankful to have a perfect daughter. "Thank you Jesus!" She preached, feeling that Holy Ghost spirit while Jelissa feels guilty for what she is about to do.
"Thanks mama.....so, my birthday is is in three hours close to midnig-"
"Yes baby I know and we're going to have a wonderful time."
"And that's what I wanted to talk to you abo-"
"Oh don't worry about it Lulu." She cut her off again after saying her nickname. "I've already made plans for us and you can invite the girls as well. We'll go out for Brunch."
"But ma-"
"And then go to a spa to get our facial's, massage including manicure and pedicure because my nails need a refill ASAP."
"Mam-"
"And after that, do a little bible studies, you can have a sleepover and we can all watch that I found this good Christian movi-"
"Mama I already have plans!" Jelissa blurted out and quickly covers her mouth. Loretta looks at her surprise.
"I'm sorry mama but I um....want to spend time with my friends this time. But, you and I can definitely have a mother/daughter day this Sunday after church." She explained, trying not to hurt her mother's feelings.
"Oh" Loretta said softly, sitting down on the couch. "You don't want to spend time with me?" she asks looking at her baby girl with sad eyes.
Jelissa sighs and sat down next to her. "Mama I do but, I want to spend time with my friends and I never ask for anything except this once to have fun and hang out with people around my age. But of course you'll always be my bested friend and that won't ever change." She said reassuring, wrapping around her mom shoulders, hugging her.
