Day 3: The light in my heart is just crimson

Chaewon stared at Yunjin like she had just set fire to the whole restaurant.

Instead, they sat awkwardly in the hotel's dining hall, a too small table between them. Regardless, she was here for one thing and one thing only: the insane plethora of pastries the hotel offered with buffet breakfast.

It was a nice break – despite Chaewon's glowering and slow poking through her food – especially after sharing a bed. She hadn't realised how much of a bad sleeper she was until she was intermittently awake on and off. Worse was how she woke up that morning, face nestled in the back of Chaewon's head breathing in daffodil scented shampoo, and Yunjin could swear she almost died on the spot just from that.

An hour-long workout and an even longer shower managed to clear her mind from... that morning.

"My goodness..." Chaewon rolled her eyes. She dropped her fork with a clatter and tore her eyes off Yunjin to slowly stare across the hotel restaurant stuffed to the brim with other patrons. "Okay, well... whatever. The plan for today when we go to meet up with Park Dae-hyun is to convince him we're his new bodyguards for the rest of his stay here in Seoul, up until that charity dinner on Sunday night."

"Wha-?" Yunjin tried to mumble, mouth too stuffed with bread to try and respond. She swallowed dry. "Okay, well... how are we supposed to do that? I can't actually see a way... he's gonna believe his 'friends' just left him with two random women he's never met?"

"I don't know." Chaewon mumbled. She leaned forwards to pick a muffin up from Yunjin's assortment on her plate. Yunjin did her best not to grouch about it. "He seems pliable and dumb enough that we can do it and he won't even notice."

Yunjin picked up a pain au chocolat – she'd only ever tried one the last time she was in America, but having it warm like this was much better. "You really think Dae-hyun is that stupid to believe it?"

Chaewon smirked, and Yunjin swore butterflies invaded her brain the moment she does. Doesn't help when Chaewon leaned over the table, bicep flexing with her grip against the tabletop, and thumb dragged against Yunjin's bottom lip. She caught the warm chocolate and brings it up to her own mouth to clean with a simple lick.

Heat blossomed like a flower along Yunjin's stomach and immediately began to crawl up and spread out. Her cheeks flared deeply while she scrambled to make sense of what on earth had just happened. Not like anything with Chaewon made sense.

Yet feeling this mushy for her all over again was just going to prove her trouble. Trying to keep even worse thoughts in the back of her head was going to make this immensely worse.

"I don't know how he's going to believe us, if I am being honest." Chaewon finally said with a sigh. She leaned back and pushed her plate of food from herself to ignore for the time being. "But he seems pretty stupid enough that if we do pull something out of thin air, Dae-hyun will fall - hook line and sinker."

Yunjin refused to look up from her half eaten plate. All of a sudden her appetite was gone too. She gently pushed the plate away from herself, both arms crossed over her chest. "Okay..." she whispered. "Okay. Well. We will get there... and then figure out from there. I suppose."

"Are you going to finish that?"

Yunjin shook her head and pushed the plate further, trying not to watch Chaewon wolf down the rest of the muffin.

"...just- just go."

Yunjin gripped the sleeves of her suit shirt, feeling far too big. She hadn't brought one on the trip (what private investigator walks around in full business attire?) but clearly things shifted and they grabbed the first one in the store.
