It shines bright for everyone

"OH MY WORD?!", Leah exclaimed when she saw the mess in the kitchen.

"See, I told you this was a great plan!", Felix cheered as they stood in the kitchen, handing an apron to his younger friend.

"We could have just asked Unnie to do it", Jiah mumbles as she takes the apron from his hand and puts it on.

"But it wouldn't have been as fun!", he exclaimed as he pushed a stool and dragged it to the cabinet that held the bowls.

"Now are you going to help me or not?", he questioned as he struggled to reach the large, blue bowl  that was just out of his reach.

Jiah sighed. She knew this was a stupid idea but, against her better judgement, she joined the older male on the stool and lifted him up a bit. Felix grabbed the bowl and raised his hands in triumph but as he did so, Jiah lost her balance and the two fell to the ground.

The two laid there on the floor for a moment before bursting into fits of laughter. Felix was the first to get up and help the long haired girl stand.

"Let's get started!", he giggled.

"The cook book says that they should bake for thirty minutes at 160°c", she instructed as she read from the mini cookbook the boy owned.

It was a Christmas gift from his grandma who was aware of the fact that the boy had a passion for baking. Her intentions were obviously from a place of love but the cookbook was now part of what made the mess of the kitchen that transpired because of the two buddies.

Instead of following the instructions, Felix set the oven to 190°c. Big mistake. He lifted his head high with pride and turned to his female companion with a grin.

"Now we wait", he chimed. Jiah sighed and shook her head. "You dummy, it said 160°c!", she scolded.

"It will bake faster, trust me", he assured her.

And fast they baked indeed. Too fast. They made the mistake of still waiting thirty minutes despite changing the temperature. If it wasn't for the thick black cloud of smoke coming out of the oven that opted them to check on the baked goods, they might have burned the house down.

"Um... maybe they're just extra crunchy?", he mumbles while holding the tray of terribly brunt disks (They were so brunt they couldn't even count as cookies).

"I told you this was a bad idea!", she snapped.

"We-", he began but corrected himself the moment she gave him 'the look', "I will find a way to fix this".

But before he could do anything, the front door burst open.

"Felix! What on earth did you do?!", she yelled in utter shock.

She left for 30 minutes. 30. Minutes. How on earth did they almost manage to burn the house down?

"You are so dead you little punk! But we need to figure out how to hide this mess before mom and dad find out-", she began instructing but before she can finish, a voice interrupts.

"Mom and dad find out what- Oh. My. Word?!", Mrs Lee gawked at the mess in the kitchen.

"Mom I can explain... I... they uh... oh gosh", Leah stuttered, her eyes darting around the room.

Suddenly, Mrs Lee burst out into a fit of laughter. "Daeyoung, get my camera", she giggled.

"Say cookies!", she cheered.

"Cookies!!!", the two friends repeated with incredibly large grins.

Mrs Lee looked at the photo fondly before placing the camera down. She clapped her hands and cleared her throat.

"Okay everyone. Grab a broom, mop and bucket. It's time to clean up the kitchen", she ordered

A few groans and sighs followed suit, mostly from Felix. "Don't act like this isn't your fault!", Leah hissed as she shot him a glare. Felix simply stuck out his tounge at her and folded his arms.

"Less fighting, more cleaning", the older woman commanded, handing a bucket to her now puzzled husband.

"Why do I have to clean?", he whined.

"Do you plan on sleeping in the living room?"

That's all it took for him to snatch the mop from Jiah's hands and mop the floor so aggressively, the mop was on the verge of snapping.

"And what are the rest of you waiting for?", she questioned the kids and teen with folded arms.

The four younger humans wasted no time and immediately got to work, sweeping, mopping, wiping and whatnot.

She smiled triumphantly and sat on the couch with a proud grin.

What a chaotic day indeed.
