You were resilient... and that was about the only credit you could give yourself. You didn't waste any time getting up in the early morning and continuing forward. The sleep you got was okay at best, but you were just happy to have woken up safe with no additional injuries. Assuming the map was still correct, you only had to go through about two and a half more days of forest until you got there. It should be all straight forest as well, meaning you shouldn't run into any other issues or problems. That was only an assumption, of course...

Thankfully you didn't encounter any more creatures so far after a bit of walking, even though the journey became just endless trees and woods. Maybe something had caused them to not stay in this area... and the fact that you had to venture through it now concerned you. If animals didn't want to be here, then neither should you. Sadly, you had no other choice.

The day played out as calming as it could be and you were able to sit down for a while in front of a small pond. It wasn't the best option but you had no idea how far away the sea would be to bathe there instead. Plus, you really needed to wash off the wound you had on your arm. It didn't look or get any better as the day went on and it was exposed to heat most of the time.

You carefully took off the small piece of shirt you had wrapped around it to see how bad the wound was. You were no medic and the sight of the healing wound almost made you throw up. You quickly cleaned it off with some of the water and before putting the piece of your shirt back over it, wrapping it tightly, since you didn't intend to take it off again. At least not until you got to the kingdom and were able to receive some healing magic over the wound.

As much as you didn't want to walk around wet, the desire to be clean was too great. You slowly sank your lower half into the water, down until your stomach, and cleaned the rest of yourself as well. You made sure to splash some water up to your chest and face as well to get rid of any dirt or blood that might have ended up there. You sat in the water for longer than you wanted to, feeling so at peace in the still water. Letting your guard down, you could really soak into the water and enjoy it.

Suddenly, the hair on the back of your neck stood up. It felt like you were being watched... so you quickly got out and got everything together to keep moving. You grabbed the rations you left on the ground nearby and shook off some of the excess water from your legs. While starting up on the way again, you ate some of the rations and barely had any left. Mostly from the wolf attack when you lost a few servings of food in an attempt to fight them.

To count the food out, you only had about one day for two and a half days. You tried not to feel mortified with that information, and damned the wolves for attacking you to put you in this situation, while trying to rationalize that you would be okay. You had to keep moving, especially after you were worried someone was watching you, or maybe it was another animal ready to kill you.. With all the energy you had, you made sure to keep moving swiftly between the trees to hopefully avoid a line of sight.

The rest of day two was fine, but you knew it wasn't going to last. You were halfway there now, at least you should be if you were still going the right way, but you had no way to tell that information probably until you got there. There were no distinct landmarks, and maybe you should have asked Jaxson if there were any to notice. You figured he would have told you if there were since he was more experienced with traveling than you.

By the night of day two, you really felt like you were still in the same place. Obviously you weren't, but nothing around you was changing scenery wise. Wasn't the place you were going supposed to be cold? Doubt started to creep in as you had to make a temporary sleeping spot on a tree. As much as you didn't want to sleep so out in the open here, you had to. You went to bed hungry to save the last bit of food for tomorrow and tried to enjoy some uncomfortable, outdoor sleep, while trying to not think about how bad of a decision this was.
