The night grew darker as the party raged on. The grey moon shone brightly among the stars in the sky, casting an ethereal glow over the scene. As the celebration intensifies, darkness begins to wallow deeper reveling energy in the air.
It was half past 12 when exhaustion overwhelmed me. My legs trembled beneath me as I sidled up the counter taking refuge from the dance floor.
I ordered another beer seeking solace in its familiar comfort. Just as I raised it to my lips, someone's finger wrapped around my cup, gently prying it from my grasp. I nudged their hand, taking a hasty gulp. Jayden's eyebrows furrowed, eyes locked on mine.
"Tired, bella?" Jayden asked, his voice laced with concern as he slowly took a swig from his bottle.
"Yeah. I think i should call Jasmine to drive me home. It's getting really late." I clicked open my purse to remove my phone.
"Hey, you're no fun. Would getting you more beer be cool?" Jayden took a bottle of beer and poured more in my cup.
I shifted the drink forward, few inches away from me. "No, I'm not ready to be drunk. I'm tired and sick of this place." I sighed and dialed Jasmine's number. The line ringed over and over again going straight to voicemail saying "Hi, it's Jasmine. Please leave a message." I groaned and crossed my arms over my chest in annoyance.
"Drink? It will make you feel more at ease." Jayden pushed it back.
I took a heavy gulp and dropped it on the table. The beer's aftertaste scratched at the back of my throat, leaving a gritty discomfort.
"Hey guys" Wes appears, waving at us.
"Where have you been all this while?" Jayden inquired.
"With Mads and Desmond" Wes smiled taking a beer and gulping it down.
"You're giving yourselves nicknames now, huh?" I asked in confusion.
"Madison is actually cooler than what you think. She's nice, funny and loves shopping. I thought I was paranoid about her first but she's totally a whole lot different person from school life." Wes said, smiling brightly.
I raised an eyebrow, being skeptical. "Shopping? That's your definition of cool?" I leaned in, my voice laced out of curiosity. "Enlighten me, please."
"Did she hit you? Cause i think we've lost Wes and his ghost is existing among us." Jayden started checking all over his body if he was wounded or his brain was intact.
"Get off my face! I'm perfectly fine." Wes cleared his throat. Wes took a deep breath, a hint of smile crossed his face. "You don't understand. Madison's not about shopping. She's got a great sense of humor...." Wes stopped shortly when i started talking.
"You're being delusional. Madison has got you under her spell. I've known Madison since we were kids and she's always been a bully." I said. "Whatever 'fairytale' she spun for you, it's all lies." I rolled my eyes, the chair scraping the floor as I stood. The sound of the chair echoed with tense silence accompanied. Without another word, I turned leaving Wes and Jayden staring after me.
One normal teen life ruined all because of one silly person- Madison. I took a cab to head home. I distracted at the window almost forgetting that i was at my house. I paid the driver shutting the door closed.
I shut the front door behind me rushing up the stairs to my room quietly. The sound of my heels resounded by each step I took. I cleaned my makeup and changed to my nightwear. I switched off my night lamp but my eyelids refused to close. I switched sides from left to right in thought about the party incident and Jayden.

The next day, we all sat for family breakfast. The sweet aroma of freshly cooked pancakes filled the kitchen. As i was munching peacefully on a chunk of pancake, Sophie nudged me on my shoulder.
