It's hard to gain any sense of control over myself when I'm angry-training. I don't look at the time, or outdoor to realize how long it's been. I wear myself down till Brielle's shouting at me to calm down and take it easy.

Today is nothing unusual, if not our fight fueling me even more.

Why doesn't he just understand why I want to keep him close? Where did his head go when we had a rogue encounter last night?

"Well, he doesn't have a wolf so maybe he can't detect the particular scent of a rogue or something."

"Don't take his side!"

Brielle rolls her eyes, not arguing further and disappearing to the back of my mind thankfully.

I work out another couple hours till I finally realize it's now dark outside. Fuck. I missed lunch and dinner. But my family knows how I get when I'm training. So it's okay, I'm not in trouble.

"Isa?"

Cory calls through the mind-link.

"Yeah?"

"Dad and Nathan finally want to talk to us, about what they're hiding."

My interest perks up.

"When?"

"First thing tomorrow morning. They want Lara and omma (mother) present there as well. I'm scared."

Though it does sound a bit weird, but I still don't want to mortify him.

"It's gonna be fine, Cory. We are not alone, we have our elders' support with us, I'm sure it will be fine."

"Hopefully. I also hope I can step up the game and lead us out of this trouble like a true leader."

Shaking my head, I chuckle a bit.

"I trust you, buddy."

"Thanks. Bye."

"Bye."

Unwrapping my boxing equipment off my hands and body, I grab my water bottle and take large swig, quenching my parched throat and feeling regenerated.

I finally take a peek at my phone and it's 10:30 pm! Fuck! I overdid myself today, my whole body is sore, burning and begging for some rest. I feel a little disheartened seeing no text from Zephyr, or any message through the mind-link. I want to cuddle him to sleep and kiss him again and again, but I doubt it's possible tonight.

Grabbing my bottle and phone, I head out of the gym and go straight up to our room. The house feels eerily calm, as if no one's here. Papa's staying at the pack house that I know, but what about ma and Zeph? They're probably already asleep.

"Zeph's not in the house. Neither is ma."

I'm brought to the field of confusion and slight rise of panic as Brielle informs that.

"What do you mean? They won't go out without at least informing me. Especially just after I told him clearly to not go anywhere without me knowing." I growl, the rage returning in full wave.

"Maybe they're just around. Let's wait a few more minutes and then contact ma. We don't want to make Zeph more mad at us."

"I don't care. He needs to know who's making the decisions here."

"Isa, he's our mate. Not our slave."

"Either way he's no good to us dead."

I regret the moment those words spit out of my mouth, guilt washing over me as Brielle whimpers and disappears, well I just got both my mate and wolf angry at me on the same day.
