The next night found Athena in the tail end of an hours long research binge. She had figured out, after talking to Beck the day before, a possible motive that the Beck brothers worked under throughout the years and was using it to try and connect the dots between cases. She was working tirelessly as everything became more and more connected the longer she went through things. She paused when she got to the most recent dealings with the Beck brothers, noticing a contract was recently signed between the Beck brothers and the Walsh ranch. The Beck brothers had given money to the Walsh ranch for them to buy more cattle and in return the Walsh ranch was to grow into a bigger ranch to pay back the loan. She suddenly recalled her last conversation with Clint- "I received a loan from someone who wants to work with my ranch and wants to see it grow."
"Son of a bitch." she muttered, realizing that Walsh had gone to the Beck brothers for a loan. Before she could look into the nitty gritty details of the contract, there was suddenly an alarm that sounded. It was the panic alarm for Beth's office that Athena had requested to be put in once she knew her sister was going to be in the same building. She clicked on the notification for the panic alarm, causing a recording to start from a camera that was in the painting behind Beth's desk. It showed two armed men heading toward Beth, one pausing to beat Beth's assistant to the ground. Athena grasped her phone, bringing up the text messaging app and to Rip's message thread. Armed men in Beth's office, going to assist, need backup ASAP. She hurriedly typed and sent before grabbing her gun and one of her knives, standing up and heading to the door of her office, the last thing she saw on her screen as she moved away was one of the men grasping Beth by the neck and pulling her from her chair.
She headed down the stairs to Beth's floor, silently moving toward Beth's office as she heard sounds of a struggle. She had her gun out in front of her as she quietly opened the door to the office and moved to aim her gun at one of the assailants who was kicking her sister in the stomach. Just when she was going to shoot, she saw movement in the corner of her eye, causing her to swing around to a fist to her face before her gun was kicked out of her hand. She didn't hesitate as she allowed her body to flow with the hit, pulling her knife from it sheath and swinging it at the third man attacking her. She sliced into his arm, causing him to hiss before he lunged forward and slammed her body into the wall behind her, a hand grasping her wrist and slamming it repeatedly into the wall to get her to let go of the knife.
She struggled against him, slamming her foot into his kneecap which just made him angrier as he jerked her body from the wall and slammed her against it again. She felt her head slam into the wall causing her to grunt in pain and she felt her hand release the knife. She then reached her hand out and pushed her thumb into his eye, causing him to let out a small scream as he pulled away from her. She moved to grasp her fallen knife, but the man had recovered quickly and grasped her by the arms and throwing her across Beth's assistant's desk. She slid along the desk before falling off the other side, slamming into the desk chair before hitting the ground. As she tried to get her bearings and get back up, a hand grabbed a chunk of her hair, pulling her from behind the desk. She was swung onto her back, and she had just a glimpse of a foot heading toward her before she reacted. She curled herself into a ball, covering her stomach and head as the kick landed to her back. She grunted but kept her body in a tight ball as another kick landed.
Her head was jerked back again as her hair was grasped and she was pulled from the ground. She glared up at the masked man, spitting in his face before he swung his other hand back and punched her in the nose. She cried out when she felt her nose break, she was then dragged toward a chair next to Beth, zip ties wrapping around her wrists and binding her arms to the chair arms. She warily lifted her head, looking over at Beth to see her face looking about how Athena felt hers was currently. She then looked across to see the man that had attacked Beth pointing a gun at Jason the assistant who was bloodied and also tied down.
