The smell of a rapidly burning cigarette filled the air,the smell of whisky lingers as James a Londoner from the United Kingdom sits alone with the curtains closed slumped down in his chair at a dark wooden desk in his bedroom while he stresses about the events of his dark past with nothing but a cigarette in one hand and a glass of ice cold whisky in the other to ease the tension in his mind. He takes the final puff of the cigarette before it burns down into the filter and gulps the last shot of whisky  left in the glass down  and picks up his phone to scroll Instagram,he spots a post of a beautiful Italian girl by the name of Francesca from Rome(Italy).

Francesca is tall and pale with dyed red hair and dark brown eyes the type you could look into and become completely consumed by, James is completely taken back and awed by her beauty luckily enough for James he saw her leaving comments in her own comment section and decides to leave a flirty comment for her,She seems to find it quite funny and a pretty good line and chose to leave one back for him and so long so fourth they started hitting it off and left eachother a follow, they moved the conversation to their DMs (direct messages) and continued the conversation.

James is completely overwhelmed by the fact  such a beautiful foreign girl is taking such an interest in him,a few days go by of James and Francesca connecting closer and closer day by day, hour by hour.

*A few days later*

James wakes up to see a message from his sister Kristy asking if he wants to go out for dinner since she missed his birthday a few months back they arranged to meet up later at their grandmother's place James tells Francesca  where he's going and she wishes him the best with his day. He walks into town to catch the bus to his grandparents place a few towns over James hasn't seen his grandmother in in a long time so he made sure to dress and smell his absolute best,He arrives at his grandmothers place eager to speak with her he knocks three times on the door a few minutes of silence until the locks of the door begin to twist and turn

"AHH James"

"Is everything okay what's going on?"

"Oh nothing Kristy said I can wait here for her because we're going for dinner I thought you knew?"

"Oh no sweetheart she didn't say anything to me but if she told you that you'd best come in"

"okay thanks"

he steps inside and the nostalgia hits him of how everything is just how he remembers it they sit down at the table and she offers him some food and drink
"would you like a tea or coffee sweetheart"

"have you eaten today"

"yea alright I'll have a coffee please and no I haven't but I'm not really hungry right now"

"are you sure sweetheart?"

"Yea honestly I'm fine Grandma"

she goes into the kitchen to begin making coffee for them meanwhile he checks his collar using the reflection of the television screen to make sure he looks his best for his grandma and smells his wrists to make sure his cologne is still noticeable. His grandma arrives back from the kitchen with their coffee's

"so then James how have you been I know you've been getting involved in stuff since I last saw you" she says to him

"yea Ive been alright it's nothing I can't handle don't worry about it Grandma"

"are you sure because I've seen the news and some of those people have been arrested for some very very horrible things I hope you weren't involved in any part of that"

"honestly grandma I'm leaving all that behind i don't want to talk about it they're gone now i found a way out"

"what about when they get out of prison though James these types of people don't forget"

"If they come back i will deal with them you have nothing to worry Grandma"

His grandma gets up from the table and takes out a pack of cigarettes, one for herself and one for James

"do you still smoke James"
"yea I still smoke"

"well here you go then don't be shy"

he takes the cigarettes out of her hand and rubs it along his lips three times to avoid it sticking. They go out onto the balcony to smoke his grandma drops the lighter,he picks up the lighter and holds it under her chin to light her cigarette for her then to his own. He leans over the balcony on his elbows with the cigarette still in hand his grandma asks him about if he's seen the news to do with all the other stuff that's been going on

"to be honest grandma nobody really watches the news these days"

before she could say anything else his phone begins to ring....
