Cross the Cat

Kotaro held the leash loosely as he looked at the stars, behind him Blecker was finishing her business
behind a tree.
"So what's it like," Kotaro asked innocently, "turning into an animal, cause like most of our constellations
are animals and I think it be cool if we could turn into them. Imagine Lucky the Lion!"
Blecker chuckled, padding over with a bit of red in her cheeks, "Y-Your gonna need a baggie."
Kotaro glanced back to the...mess...left behind and pat Blecker head, taking some plastic bags from his
pocket and quickly grabbing and then discarding the waste in a near bin.
"This is so embarrassing," Blecker looked away,
"You could just turn into a kid instead," Kotaro offered.
Blecker shook her head, "I don't feel comfortable being a child...not with the secondary aspects of my
change mate."
Kotaro tilted his head as Blecker fluster more, "M-Mate?"
Blecker coughed nervously, "Well I blew that fast," she sighed, "The truth is every time I change shape is
not just cosmetic..." she paused trying to think how to explain thing to someone so young and
inexperienced. "Okay so like if a doctor took my blood right now and studied it it wont read as human,
but as some breed of large cat. I am what you see. Granted the mutation that lets me shapeshift would
show I'm not a normal cat but id still register as a cat not a human."
Kotaro moved to a bench to sit as he listed while petting Blecker, "Sounds cool, so like you could go
under cover in a lion den if you wanted to."
Blecker chuckled, "Yeah...but that's the other part of the problem, I'm not human, I'm an animal, and
whatever form I take it effects my mind, I'm never quite myself there's always some shift or change in
how I see and react to the world...and right now as a cat the most notable poart of that is my instincts. I've
had years to get a handle on them, not let them control me but still when I look at you after all you've
done for me my mind starts to wander, I stop seeing you as just a friend or team mate but as a potential
mate, a male who could give me a strong litter. Because to animals mating, especially cats, mating can be
done at a very young age. And the thing is even if I changed into a human right now id still have those
memories, they don't go away. So while as a human I might not look at you and think, in that moment,
you'd make a good mate, I'd still have all my past memories bouncing around about all the things that
would make you a good mate. A-and I just don't think it be a good idea for a human girl to be looking at a
boy your age and thinking about mating. At least when I'm adult sized I can rationalize it as fleeting
thoughts brought on by my instincts and brush it off as improper due to our physical age difference but if
were the same age physically it would be that much harder, plush im not sure what other changes child me
might have personality wise. I might become obsessed with our wedding or double down on the instincts
and want to have your baby, or it could be a total 180 and instead I'd want to fight you to prove...any
number of things."
Kataro listens and nods, chuckling, "So I guess I know what Lucky the Lion would act like."
Blecker took a moment to process the response then laughed herself, "R-Right! If the others could turn
into their animals it would be a total mad house! Raptor would be flying about trying to lay eggs and
create a nest. Champ would charging about and making a scene. Total Chaos! Not to mention all the
trouble a Fish named Spada would have in an open air ship!"
Kotaro laughed glad to see Blecker out of her funk as he mimed growled and roaring claws out, "And I'd
be a mighty bear!"
Blecker smiled and laughed form shifting, "That you would mate, a mighty bear, and I'd be your bear-
ess."
Kotaro looked at the small bear that now met his eye level, "Wow...bears are a lot scarier up close."
A laughing Blecker then pins Kotaro under her, licking his face, affectionately, "That's a terrible thing to
say to your mate!"
"Blecker, focus!" Kotaro glares, "You're going full beast."
Blecker shook her head a moment, "This is what I meant, each form thinks a little different...h-hold on
give me a second..."
Blecker's form shifted and shrank a bit until she looked more like a wolf or other dog, "Let's see how my
brain reacts this time."
As Kotaro pushed her off him Blecker shook her head a few time. Kotaro petting her gently as she got her
head in order. "You alright Blecker."
"I'll be fine mate, this form seems to be prioritizing the good of the pack over having a litter. I'll be fine.
We'll take about having a litter when we secure our territory and our pack is safe for Jark Matter. You
have plenty of years left in you and as a shapeshifter I kinda don't age so I can wait."
Kotaro listed and rose a brow, "You really do just change your mind in an instant when your body
changes."
Blecker shook her head, "Not an instant, there's always a bit of time when I settle into a new form when
by brain has to reconcile past emotions with new ones. Leaves me a bit confused for a minute or so as
everything is sorted out."
Kotaro looked in Blecker eyes with a bit of worry, "Is there a chance you can turn evil?"
Blecker looked away, "My past is not always sunny."
Kotaro wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tight, "Don't worry if that happens we'll save you."
Just then Kotaro's Saiza Blaster buzzed.
"Jark Matter in your area, watch out. Everyone else is sleeping do you think you and Blecker can handle it
alone, I can hurry down inf you need me."
Blecker cut in before Kotaro could speak, "We're a team right, sentai, extra help would not be rejected."
"Alright you two, just hold out as best you can until I arrive!"
"Okyu Raptor!"
"On my back mate," Blecker barks as she sniffs the ground, "It'll be faster."
Kotaro nods and sits on Blecker's back as she darts off, soon finding their quarry skulking about a
construction site.
"It's over Jark Matter, We are here!" Blecker announces as Kotaro dismounts.
"A boy and his dog, cute," The Daikaan general laughs.
Blecker stands, her form shifting into well, a child size version of her Lucky form. "Let's take this punk
down okay, mate?"
Kotaro nods as they fist bump, him slot a Kyuutamma as she takes out a flip phone from her former side
bags now slung hand bag.
"Koguma Kyuuuutama! Seiza Change!"
"Wild Access!"
In a flash two child sized rangers stood, one in white and one in sky blue.
"Big Star, Koguma Skyblue!"
"Wild Force, Toro No Shiro!"
"Savior of the Galaxy!"
"Guardian of Earth!"
The pair smiled as they shared a look.
"Together we roar!"
The general was not impressed as he face the two child like rangers, "Switch!"
"Switch?" Kotaro said confused.
"Switch!?" Blecker's eyes widened in alarm as she dove to knock Kotaro out of the way, "Mate dodge!"
As the dust settled the Skyblue rolled to his feet, looking ready to fight as White came to hers and looked
confused, "Why am I over there."
Skyblue shook his head, and lowered his guard as the general laughed, "So it's that kind of switch."
"Ha! Now what are you going to do, you don't know each others powers or how their bodies wo~"
He was silenced by a double punch from the pair. Kotaro and Blecker wailing on him with practiced ease.
"Buddy the Kyuuranger weapons are modular," Blecker blue taunts, "One of the first things I did when I
found that out was get them to cross train with them and unarmed. I know I don't look it but I've been
training Ranger teams for over a decade."
As the two continued to wail on him they were soon joined by Raptor as Washi Pink. Eventually driving
the general off and the trio powered down. Kotaro White immediately exiting the morph in his normal
male form while Blecker was...also in the same form.
"Two Kotaros," Raptor asked confused.
"This is cool! Does this mean I have your powers Blecker, quick how do I turn into a bear!"
"Kotaro this is serious we had our bodies swapped," Blecker started before his eyes went wide, as Kotaro
shut his eyes and started to think, Blecker smacking him to break his focus, "Seriously don't!"
"Why?" Kotaro pouted.
"Listen remember all that stuff I told you?"
"About instincts? Yeah but I don't feel any different."
"That's because you don't have my past memories of being an animal. I was normal before my first
change into a white tiger after that..." he shook his head, "took a long time to reign those in. You have no
such training. You turn into a bear now you'll go feral!"
Kotaro pouts but nods, "Okyu, I understand..." then he grins looking to the confused Raptor, then closes
his eyes turning into a female version of himself, "At least now they can tell us apart."
"What's going on," Raptor says confused.
"In short," Blecker chuckles, "latest monster of the week body swapped Kotaro and me, Blecker."
"What? Really? So..." Raptor looks over to Fem Kotaro, "That's Kotaro? Why is he a girl?"
"Well Blecker can't change since she's in my body, and it would be too confusing to have two of me."
Blecker chuckles, "Wait until you have to use the bathroom, your going to need a tutor!"
"That's alright, I got you, partner!" Kotaro throws an arms around Blecker, "And if those instincts of your
get out of hand just let me know."
Blecker blinks, looking at his hands, closing his eyes, "This is surreal...i have the memories sure, the past
emotions but in this body, untainted by years of experimentation and animals DNA...all those voices,
those impulses are...gone."
"For now lets get back to the ship, nothing going to be solved hanging around here."
"Right!" the pair nod as the follow Raptor, Kotaro glancing over at Blecker with sadness in her eyes.
