The path through Mt. Siege is the first trial that awaits many new wizards.
Full of unknown danger, many challengers embarking on their path to magical prowess end up facing their first battles here.
Although the threats may be many in number, it is often said that the biggest danger to a wizard is themselves.
Grant Vermillion, leaving the town of Grey Orchard behind to pursue his dream; with his head high, he ventures down the narrow valley where the city of Paragon Siege awaits.
Among the many things on his mind, Grant wondered what kind of world lay beyond the South-east Azer. While it was true that his master trained with him for 5 years, it was under a restriction. Although Grant had mastered the basics of magic - and his body had become a proper vessel - Master Lockheart kept them in the same region of Azerfidelis out of worry that Grant would end up conjuring more trouble than he could handle. Despite the truth to this, Grant was almost certain that the reason had more to do with his master, than himself. This also led him to a problem; the only person he had ever fought with was his master. In theory that should have been adequate, but Grant wasn't sure what another wizard would be like in a fight.
Man, I wonder why Paragon Siege gets people going so much. Grant held his arms up, stretching them behind his head. He had been walking for over an hour now, Grey Orchard wasn't visible anymore. There weren't any other people near him, either. It seemed like he was truly alone, a first in 5 years. His heart was slowly beginning to race in his chest, Mt. Siege was quickly drawing close. The first valley was now only a few miles ahead.
The lady from the hotel was reading a CHROMA article about Paragon Siege, I'm sure of that. "GRR! If only that damn geezer let me know what it was about, I might have a better idea what I'm walking into." Grant fumed.
The sun was in the middle of the sky, so it had to be no later than 1 in the afternoon, but Grant noticed the sky was slowly darkening behind him. Clouds covered the peak of Mt. Siege, but were scarce in the sky. "It's not a storm is it?" When he looked forward, he made out a cliff ahead that seemed like a good place to rest for a few.
As he got closer, Grant could see a person had already been lying on the cliff. At first it seemed like they had been napping, but when he walked towards them, he could make out the faintest moaning. That person... it sounds like they're in pain?
The person was an older man, who appeared to have been injured. "These are ... burns?" Grant rushed to his knees. "Woah, man. Are you okay? Your arms and clothes... they look like you walked into a fire?"
He held out his hand and said the phrase,
"Null Corpus."
