Third Person POV:
It had been two days since Sasha had started feeling better. Her fever had subsided, and she was back to her usual self at work, handling cases with her characteristic efficiency and poise. She had regained her confidence, and her success in the courtroom was evident. Everything was falling back into place, and Sasha felt like she was finally back in control.
On this particular afternoon, the hum of activity in her office was interrupted by a knock on the door. Sasha looked up from her desk, surprised to see Lucas standing there, a casual smile on his face.
"Hey," Lucas greeted her, stepping into the room with a relaxed air. "Got a lunch break?"
"Hey, Lucas," Sasha replied, returning his smile. "Just about to grab a bite. What brings you by?"
"I figured I'd join you," Lucas said, setting down a bag from a nearby takeout place. "Thought we could have lunch together."
Sasha's eyes lit up at the gesture. She was glad for the company, and she enjoyed their conversations. Lucas took a seat across from her as she cleared some space on her desk for their meal.
They began to unpack their lunch, and the conversation naturally flowed from work to more personal topics. Lucas, in his typically relaxed manner, began to talk about an upcoming event.
"There's a big ball coming up in a month," Lucas said, casually as he sipped his drink. "It's going to be held in the grand building of Manhattan—one of those high-profile masquerade balls where everyone from small-time crooks to big mafias gather."
Sasha raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A ball, huh? Sounds fancy."
"It is," Lucas replied with a grin. "I was thinking... since you've been working so hard lately and could use a break, would you like to be my plus one? It could be a good chance for you to get out, have some fun, and just enjoy yourself."
Sasha's face brightened. The idea of attending a high-profile event was exciting, and the prospect of spending time with Lucas in a different setting was appealing.
"I'd love to," she said enthusiastically. "It sounds like a lot of fun. I could use a change of pace."
Lucas smiled, clearly pleased with her reaction. "Great. I'll make sure we have everything sorted out. It should be a good time."
As they continued their lunch, their conversation drifted to other casual topics. Sasha mentioned her plan to visit the store after work to pick up some groceries.
"I need to stock up on a few things," Sasha said, taking a bite of her food. "I was thinking of hitting the store around 6."
"Sounds good," Lucas replied. "Anything specific you need?"
"Just the usual stuff," Sasha said. "But if I think of anything else, I'll let you know."
Their conversation flowed smoothly, and it was clear that they both enjoyed each other's company. Little did they know, just outside Sasha's office, an observer was listening intently to their conversation.
Stranger's Point of View:
Outside Sasha's office, William Lawson was carefully positioned, a small, concealed device hidden near the door. The bug he had planted earlier was transmitting their conversation, allowing him to overhear every word. Lawson's interest was piqued by the mention of the upcoming ball, and he took detailed notes as he listened.
As he heard Lucas's invitation to the ball and Sasha's enthusiastic acceptance, Lawson's mind raced with new plans. The ball presented an opportunity for him to execute his strategy. He could use the event as a chance to confront both Sasha and Lucas and possibly put his plan into action.
Lawson's hatred for Lucas was deep-seated, and hearing that Sasha would be attending the ball with him only intensified his resolve. He meticulously recorded every detail about the event and their plans, preparing to use this information to his advantage.
Once he was sure he had all the necessary information, Lawson carefully retrieved the bug and left the building, his mind already working on how he could exploit the situation.

Sasha's POV:
Later that evening, after work, I headed out with Ryan for some grocery shopping. I felt a sense of normalcy returning as we made our way to the store. The cool autumn air felt refreshing, and I was looking forward to picking up some essentials.
"Thanks for coming with me, Ryan," I said, as we entered the store. "I know it's not exactly thrilling, but it's nice to have some company."
"Anytime, Sasha," Ryan replied with a friendly grin. "Happy to help."
We wandered through the aisles, picking up groceries and chatting about the week ahead. Everything felt relatively mundane and peaceful—until something caught my eye. As we reached the checkout, I noticed a man standing nearby. He seemed vaguely familiar, but I couldn't quite place him.
"Excuse me, are you alright?" I asked with a friendly smile as I saw him looking my way.
The man returned my smile, but there was something unsettling about his demeanor. "Yes, just picking up a few things," he said, his tone polite but carrying an edge I couldn't quite decipher.
We exchanged pleasantries and continued with our shopping. As we finished up and drove back to Lucas's penthouse, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
During the drive, I noticed a car behind us. At first, I thought nothing of it, but the car seemed to be following us for a while. I kept glancing in the rearview mirror, and the car remained in sight for a few blocks before eventually disappearing.
"Did you see that car behind us for a while?" I asked Ryan, trying to sound casual but feeling a twinge of unease.
"Yeah, I noticed it," Ryan said, his expression turning thoughtful. "But it's gone now. Probably just someone heading in the same direction."
I nodded, trying to dismiss the feeling of unease that lingered. We arrived back at the penthouse, and I was relieved to get inside. The day had been long, and the encounter with the stranger at the store left me feeling unsettled.
As I settled in for the evening, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. The stranger's unsettling presence and the car that had followed us had left me feeling uneasy. But for now, I tried to focus on the comfort of home, hoping that tomorrow would bring a sense of normalcy back.
Little did I know, the events of the day were far from over, and the tension I felt was only the beginning of what was to come.
